Hi, I’m on a play through where I defeated the Orion Guardian with 10 low tech Merculite MIRV ECCM, ARM, EMG Augmented engines and Battle pods combination destroyers.

I’m now doing the research to get the portal to the Antarans Homeworld. I understand that there is a Star Fortress, various Titans and Battleships to fight there. The other Empires are no real match for me.

I’m in the middle of the game on year 3525. The Antarans are only attacking with single frigates so far. I’m playing on hard.

Can you tell me for Antarans Homeworld:

- What technologies (weapons, shields, armour and specials) do I need against the Antarans?

- How many ships and the classes eg. Titan, Battleship etc I’ll need

- Any easy low tech ways to defeat the Antarans like I defeated the Orion Guardian?

There are lots of videos on defeating the Orion Guardian but none on the Antarans Homeworld.

They have all the top technology. The longer you wait, the more ships they build. I personally find them reflecting damage back onto me makes it hard to beat them early but being able to shoot first (have higher mobility) and hit hard helps a lot. Take tech from Orion, steal everything from the AI players and capture a ship or two from the Antarans and scrap it to get tech, that is all I can suggest. If I ever bother with them, it is very late game so no know no more tricks.

Stellar Converter is the gun I choose for beating the Antarans.

I've always liked the Plasma weapons and equiping a few titans with those was kinda insane. I've used Stellar Converters and they are nice, but Plasma just seems to stack the damage nicely when they hit all 4 sides of a ship or base.

It's been a long while since I played MOO2, but I seem to recall Plasma doing over 4k damage per round of attacks.

It's not really that difficult honestly. They have some unique technologies like Damper Field (receive only 25% damage from everything) or Xentronium Armor (way better than Adamantium), but are really not that numerous and their numbers go up very slowly. Once you reach endgame, there is no way they can keep up. And as with all AI ships in this game, they are not built well at all. Once you get a few fully loaded Titans, it's pretty easy.

When going against their Damper Fields, making ships with the highest DPS possible is the way to go. They have a 75% damage reduction, but no shields, meaning everything goes through. No need for super-powerful weaponry to punch through shields. Also, they seem to like boarding you a lot, so keep that in mind.

I never really went for the black hole generators since they take up a lot of space and if they get damaged you lose your main firepower fast. I think my setup only had the plasma cannons modified to hit all 4 sides of a ship and I probably had around 20 or maybe even more of those.

The defensive setup looks good though.

I'll look into my old setup and confirm for you if I can today or tomorrow at the latest.

As to your main question. It depends on how many ships you take there with that setup and if the Antarans get lucky shots. Keep in mind that it's a lot easier for an enemy to take out 2 powerful weapons on a ship vs 20 lesser but equally effective weapons. While quality over quantity is wonderful, quantity has its own quality. :)

Oh, I just realized I probably had Doom class designs by the time I attacked the Antaran homeworld.
