In here, you can ask for advice about any game you're interested in!

I'll start:

1. Alien/Zombie Shooter series: If I was to try only one of them, would you agree that Alien Shooter 2 is the best one? Is there any kind of continuity in the story between AS1 and AS2? I assume story is the least important aspect of the games, but I'm still curious whether playing AS2 independently of the predecessor would make any difference.

2. Braveland series: I already own Braveland, and it's nice enough, casual fun, but gets boring pretty soon, too. I assume Braveland Wizard is just more of the same? Does Braveland Pirate add a few interesting things to the formula? I read you can freely travel between different islands, for example, does that give you a bit more freedom than just following the path laid out before you? And you can play your hero in combat, apparantly contrary to the other two games? What else is new?

Leroux: 1. Alien/Zombie Shooter series:
I played only the Alien Shooter games, but frankly, i don't remember any details regarding the story; maybe it's *that* forgettable, maybe not, the point is that i had lots of mindless fun with both of them.
IIRC either AS2 and ZS2 share some maps. Personally I liked AS1+2 over ZS1+2.
Not much of a story there if any, just brainless shooting. Playing 2 without having played 1 doesn't make much difference. IIRC 2 has bigger maps than 1.

Is that a good or a bad thing? I assume you can't save in the middle of a map and have to beat them in one go without taking a break, so longer maps would also be more difficult and require more time investment in each sitting?

It's been a while since I last played them, but I would rate them as such:

Alien Shooter 2>Zombie Shooter>Alien Shooter>Zombie Shooter 2

I don't recall any direct connection with the sequels of either series, so I would only recommend playing Alien Shooter 1, if you are curious about seeing how the series evolved.
I'm thinking of Thunderscape. It's only $1.49, right now, and it looks like it has non-tactical turn based combat, but on the down side uses a skill point system.

That game always tempts me, but then I remember watching a LP and.. it was terrible +_+

Correct.

To me, the 2 zombie games are just a re-skin of the alien games. Same characters, same weapons, different minsters and maps. I enjoy them for mindless fun but if I were to do it over again I'd just get the Alien Shooter games since the Zombie games don't really add anything that stands out to me.
Is For the Glory: Europa Universalis game worth it if I have old Europa Universalis 1? I've heard that you are streamlined by the events to one path only in FtG:EU, maybe the EU1 is more open in this regard? And what about EU2?
I've played all Xwing games except for X-wing VS tie fighter.. is that worth it?
I read that it's mostly skirmish battles and multiplayer..

Wasn't FtG an improved version of EU2?

More like modded with some humongous mod and released as another game. But I don't know if these changes would suit me or not.
Thanks for all the replies!

I'm also curious about:

- Samorost 3 (I loved Botanicula and kind of liked Samorost 2; is Samorost 3 closer to the former or the latter in terms of length and originality?)
- Sid Meier's Pirates (is this a sim game - I get bored by them quickly - or just casual arcade fun?)
- 1979 Revolution: Black Friday (I heard it's kind of like an episode in an episodic game, but without guaranteed sequels, and it seem a little expensive for just one short episode; does it feel incomplete?)
- Hand of Fate: Wildcards DLC (I like the original game and I've played through maybe two thirds of it; but even in the main game, there's a lot of repetition already; is the addition of Wildcards still worth it at this late stage?)
- Serpent in the Staglands (not sure what to think of it; I like the graphics, new setting and mechanics to explore, sense of adventure, but I'm afraid it might turn out too hard, frustrating or boring)

I played that game to death back in the day until basically nothing else but random generated loot left to find.

You started as a poor pirate, and then work your way to become a successful one. Destroy a city or Mary it's mayor daughter. Engage in fancy sword duel and dancing party. Trade goods. Drown imperial army ships or competing pirates. Collect 4 pieces of map and use them to get treasure hidden around the world.

It's not heavy on sim. I actually doesn't feel like I'm playing a sim game. So you probably will be OK with it

Definitely not a simulation. Cartoony game, action elements, minor tactics, many minigames.
I need your advices too pals :)

I'm very interested by Telepath Tactics because I like tactical RPGs :) But the reviews seems very mitigate and the price seems a bit high... any opinion ?

Apache Longbow : is this accessible for a newbie, and not too "slow" oriented ?

And concerning X-wing VS tie fighter, is it interesting to play if you play it only singleplayer ?
