Anyone got any grand strategy games with a modern setting they can recommend? I've played Hearts of Iron 4 but I'm maybe looking for something more sandbox-y and less scripted.

by modern, and your reference to hoi4, im assuming you mean "set in the last ~100 years"?

Victoria 2 has at least one mod set in modern day, and Darkest Hour likely more than one. There's also Realpolitiks, which is a bit half-baked in some areas (especially warfare) but still worth a look with low expectations.
