Anyway, Minecraft is in alpha, but it looks like multiplayer (like, actual multiplayer, survival multiplayer) will hit the "game" next week. And when multiplayer comes, Minecraft will be out of Alpha and become a beta development. What this means is that the game will be full price, and that means paying something like 15 euros. SO BUY IT.

Its 50% off now. I doubt it will get a sale like that again for a long time

Anyone good enough to buy me this game? I will return you your euros on thursday.

I can wait. Would rather buy a great game that I know I want in a year or two than to blow money because something might end up being fun now.

I saw this thing on VGCats a while ago. Didn't buy it then, but I got some nice ideas in this thread, so I made the leap. A shame it's not $10, but €10 isn't so bad.

It's very fun. Good game to relax to if you can't be bothered with anything. Just made Megaman, although its really not an original idea.

I'm loving it (single player survival mode). I've created a nice little fortress for myself, and found an insanely deep and complex cave system that I'm slowly exploring and mining for resources.
Really, tons of fun. I hope people aren't judging the game based on the ancient free version, the alpha version is awesome and it is a proper game.

The water effects are way cooler in the alpha version.

At first I couldn't really get into the game, as I was trying to play it on my laptop.
Well, the less I say about intel graphics cards the better.... >:/ (7fps, I mean COME ON!!)
But I gave it a shot on my main computer, and I find this game very nice!
I suggest trying to mess around with the crafting first, and focus mainly on wood at first.
I scouted out a nice big island, and built myself a house on it (Only made from wood at the mo', but I plan to make a nice brick house a bit further away).
Unfortunately, it looks like I need to travel quite far before I can get anything else.
It would be nice if in the final version, we could build a map which reveals itself as you explore.
I keep dying a lot at night as well. Zombies are easy to kill, but spiders are quite tough, and the skeletons are a nightmare!
(This is especially an issue since, when you die, you lose all of your stuff in your inventory!)
The game has a 3d mode as well, which is pretty awesome, (though it gave me a little headache after a while)...

I found that building a large column (jump, aim down, and place a block) near a source of water to jump into was a very successful way to avoid critters at night.

I tend to just stay inside at night. The monsters won't spawn in well lit areas, and as long as all the exits are closed off I can busy myself mining et.c. I have a huge network of tunnels under my fortress, and the granite I mine during the night I use to expand the fortress and other things during the day.

That seems like a better strategy. My experience is pretty limited, just about a half hour of messing around in the alpha. I wish I wasn't at work so I could play some more. =\
