Supposedly, it phones home during Act switches; notably while playing on the transition from Act 1 to 2. Players playing now can't get past Act 1 b/c of this, when rolling new characters to try to get past Act 1 or loading saves right before the Act transition.

Also, supposedly Paid DLC doesn't work either.

Have you used any of the supposed fan-fixes for the game?

Absolutely, thus my reaction.
After all, no low is too low for western pubs these days.

EDIT:I have already finished the game and see little reason to return to it but for the sake of preservation, i would like to see it "cured" of its DRM in an official capacity. Wishful thinking i know.
