How to live another life in another world?

Bethesda is well known for creating stories that take you to the unknown places and games that redefine their genres. Let's start with a blood-drenched, adrenaline-fuelled FPS experience like no other in Doom (-67%), and then go to Gothic flavored legendary FPS Quake (-67%). How about an alien world with a bit of magic in Morrowind (-67%) or Oblivion (-67%) that opened the mainstream window for the fantasy games?

Bethesda catalog wouldn't be complete without the Fallout series (-75%), where the studio went nuclear in post-apocalyptic Washington. Visit Vault 108 to face Gary clones and find out why the Vault's 101 door remained sealed since the war.

All the Bethesda games on GOG.COM are now up to 75% off.

The Bethesda Publisher Sale ends July 31th, 1 PM UTC.

StingingVelvet: To be fair they're saying the Doom console mandatory sign-in thing was an accident. Even if they're lying all the console downloads have Steam style account based DRM, so not some massive difference sadly. Thankfully we have the better PC releases with source ports completely DRM free.

alexandros050: They say it was an accident but now they the people that had already purchased the games already created an account on bethesda...A lot of accidents for bethesda recently such as selling on steam a game with denuvo and on their bethesda launcher the game was drm free (cant remember which game it was but it was a recent one)
I doubt selling mounts on Elder Scrolls online for upto and over £29.99 each is an accident either.

""Without crazy luck you need about 30-40 crates per APEX mount. Sometimes more, like on Wild Hunt season, when i got only 1 APEX mount from crates and got enough gems to purchase 3 more mounts. You get 120-150 gems per 15 crates pack."

from the website;
"You can purchase a single Crown Crate for 400 crowns. We'll also offer Crown Crate bundles, where you can get four Crates for 1500 crowns, or 15 Crates for 5000 crowns. "

At the time of writing i can purchase a 5500 Crown pack for £29.99."

That is over a year old now, but i doubt it's changed.

Why make expensive Single Player games when you can make $$$ selling cosmetics. Sure it's a choice, that every braindead moron seems to want to make, and it really fucks up gaming for the rest of us.

Corporations gonna corporation. Their entire reason for being is to increase profit, so of course they're going to do everything legal they can to do so. I much more blame the idiots buying shit like that than I blame Bethesda, honestly. It's like watching your friend try to pet a cobra and then getting mad the cobra bites him.
Doom 64 is coming to PC.

Whilst its good officially, you can already get it as a Doom II mod though.

https://www.moddb.com/mods/doom-64-retribution
Finally, got hold of Oblivion!!
I would like to have a more or less vanilla experience for the first playthrough.
Also I am not keen on using so many mod managers and script extenders at this point.
So I am thinking about installing the Unofficial patches and Darnified UI for now.

What do you think?

Are there any other basic mods which are not complicated to install?
Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition for 75% is a steal. Everyone should own it at this price, a fantastic game.

I've read that that is far from 100% true, that for-profit corporations need only do what they've told shareholders they will do -- in the absence of other communications , the default expectation is that the corporation is only about making a return on investment, yes, but they can communicate e.g. "we're going to save the rain forests", and they're allowed to act on that communication even if it decreases profits.

But even without putting something extra in the company's mission statement, companies aren't normally required to go to extremes and be totally rapacious and act legally but unethically. Only if they'e promised the shareholders they'll do that.

The executives often tend to make a lot of money *personally* if they rape their customers, competition, suppliers etc., but they're doing that for selfish reasons, not because it's totally required by law.

That's fine if the idiots are a small minority, but when they are the vast majority, now you're talking about human nature, so it's less clear that the idiots are the ones at fault for being normal humans.

(I didn't at *all* understand this thread about $$$ cosmetics being the very essence of evil, so I'm just talking in general, not about that in particular.)

Very nice of Bethesda to have a sale, but I have everything already ... have had for a while.

When are they going to offer up something new ... especially from their back catalog?

My money is just sitting there, waiting to be handed to them ... but they don't seem to want it??

Surely I am not the only one sitting in the sad corner and crying my heart out? ;(

Well, since Bethesda won't give us something new I decided to give my money to Kalypso Media, instead. Since they give us more games, they have more of my money ;)

Well the "how much do we restrict humans from screwing their lives up" question is one that has preoccupied mankind for millennia. I tend to side more with freedom, even freedom to screw up, but others have different ideas. In any case I'm just speaking my personal perspective... I more blame the buyers of loot crates than the providers, but you're free to go another way and see the providers as preying on uncontrollable human urges. It's basically a glass half empty or full kind of philosophical issue.
Certainly plenty more games in the Steam Bethesda Sale.

Not that I am advocating going to Steam ... definitely not.

It is a clear indicator of how Bethesda care though for GOG.
As not to be a Negative Nancy, I'd like to thank Big B and Gog for sale. I look forward to trying out the infamous horse armor.

It's not only Bethesda. Pretty much every big developer stopped adding new games except for those who are more pro GOG like THQ Nordic. I would love some of the next games in established franchises to arrive here like AC II and Brotherhood, Dead Space 2, Dragon Age II, Skyrim and many many more. Basically any good old game. But it seems they have no intention to release more games in here. Atleast not anytime soon. Or maybe we will have some surprises in the near future.
