https://www.gamespot.com/articles/microsoft-will-pay-developers-even-more-money-on-pc-matching-epic-games-store/1100-6490770/

On August 1 the Microsoft Store on PC will match the 88/12 revenue split that Epic Game Store offers.

Makes you wonder how other stores that still use the 70/30 split will respond now that 88/12 is gaining traction.
Everyone's gonna price each other to the point where we just trade copies of Blix The Times Cat as a currency to purchase games
Haha, not a chance in hell. Not giving them any money, I'd rather pay the devs directly, if possible.
Knowing their track record, this will eventually implode. What's more, the MS store is very poor at best (and that's a mild way to put it). I also find the whole "no catches" thing hilarious somewhat. Popcorn is ready :D

Same here. DRM aside, the last two stores Microsoft operated (Games For Windows Live and Zune Marketplace) were closed down with a huge middle-finger shown to anyone who bought any content there, so I'm not even going to give them any benefit of the doubt...

"Microsoft Store! The store that adds more layers of DRM to 24 year old Age of Empires re-releases than they had originally! Buy now and you'll get to enjoy Arxan DRM, our equivalent of Denuvo! Click on that Checkout button today!"

LOL, no. Not even for free...
I'll stick with what I already have. Too many accounts and passwords.
It's funny how the two stores that offer less to the customers are the ones with the lower cut for developers...

I mean, I'm not against the devs/pubs getting more money for their work, but stores like EGS and Windows Store are so barebones and not so great to use compared to others, that you gotta wonder if this 12% cut becomes the norm, the customer experience will be greatly reduced.

"Looking ahead, Microsoft said it's planning additional quality-of-life improvements for PC players. This includes faster download speeds and "improved install reliability," among other things."

Hopefully, one of those "other things" will be the removal of DRM. Technically, there is a convoluted way to make your Microsoft Store games playable offline, but setting that up requires logging in and launching every single game you own while connected:
https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/games-apps/game-setup-and-play/play-games-offline-on-windows-10-using-offline-mode

Also note, that you are limited to only one dedicated offline device and can change it only 3 times a year....

Until then, they can do whatever "pro-gamer" move they want but I won't spend a dime there.

The only thing (other than having the latest version of Nier:Automata) that the MS store has going for it in terms of advantage to the consumer is wider support for regional currencies. Its all about offering a better service, as Gabe once said; and having regional currency support+cheap subscription to get a lot of content+being annoyingly present on fresh installs might lead MS's shitty mobile-looking store to gaining some traction.
I'm good with GOG, itch.io and Direct from Devs. Not making any more accounts.
So, will I finally have access to my game-folder and game-files for single-player games?

WindowsApp folder being locked down is annoying.

Imagine if something like Vampire: Bloodlines 1 was locked down and never got modded by Wesp5 or Tessera. Yeah, the darn game would likely never start up again on newer OS's b/c it's tough to run on modern OS's without these mods.

Even G4WL didn't go this far w/ this lock-down of WindowsApps folder. At least w/ G4WL, you had full access to your game-folders. We need this for game preservation.

And I need an easier way than re-downloading Forza Horizon 3 or all 130+GB of Gears 4, just to put them on multiple PC's. Transferring games from one PC to another should be painless.

Sometimes I think no one can match MS on that front.
By the way, Tunguska shows a lot of promise, I'm very excited for the next beta.

Yeah, me too patrikc! :)
And the Wishlist is close to 100 votes, I have to upload some screanshoots from the demo and make a little review in another tread so other user can join to the wishlist. Hopefully GOG will include it soon.
