vetra_gamer: Maybe they will finally release Skyrim for GOG. I've been waiting 8 years to play it DRM-free.
I really want to see Skyrim: SE on here. That game runs unusually stable for a Bethesda game while vanilla Skyrim breaks all the time even if I just at it in a funny way.

toxicTom: Because... Microsoft has so many games here?
Microsoft is a business. Another source for profits. Almost all games need MSWIN. It's in their interests.

Yes, just give it time.

There a lot of versions. Which one do people want? The most complete version with all the downloadable content.

Do you know what I did when I found my drm-malware game? I give it away to goodwill as soon I as I found out I couldn't install it without internet access.

I'v found out Farcry 3 and Skyrim had DRM-MALWARE. I said, "NO!". I've been waiting since 2011 for skyrim and since 2012 for far cry 3. I DON'T TOLERATE REQUIRED INTERNET ACCESS! X3 needed internet access to access help videos. I went to youtube with a downloader to grab the videos. Then firewalled X3. X4 has that internet required added content. I said, "NO!" and skipped buying the game.

All my games are fire-walled to block any internet access.

If GOG games goes DRM-MALWARE, I'm gone! No seconds chances. I'll go back to current game collection and delete my account. Period.
This probably won't be 'good news' for gamers in general.

Still having said that Bethesda have sort of gone downhill since their Skyrim days (and even that game, although hugely popular, was a step downwards from the detailed complex crpgs they were known for). And on some level the Bethesda of today and Microsoft are working towards the same kind of things, so i get that as a company decision it makes sense.

As for Bethesda and future games of theirs, in truth for me they hit their peak 'golden era' around Skyrim (i love Fallout 3 and Morrowind as my top two Bethesda games) and it seems to be downhill from here.

MS's interest isn't in short term profits, they think strategically. They've paid many millions in fines for anti-competitive business practices, which for them was worth it, because in the long run they won by crushing the competition.

Every "good" they do has some hidden agenda. They embraced Open Source only to poison projects with their own technologies and bind developers (more developers, more applications for Windows, more user locked in this eco system).

They will only bring games to GOG if they see some strategic advantage in that - the profits it would generate are peanut for them. And seeing that GOG and DRM-free is the exact opposite and antidote of their GamePass "you own nothing" approach, I think we can be glad if MS decides that GOG is too small time to pose any threat in the foreseeable future.

I completely agree with this, but the sad truth is that Microsoft isn't by far the only one acting that way; the "new" capitalism is not about free market, but a war to achieve monopolies.
Think about Epic, still about videogames only: they said they want to compete with Steam, but they actually don't - they do the exact opposite by locking content behind exclusives, monopolizing some of them rather than improving their service and surpass competition. Steam did the same before when it started being required for nearly everything, and so on.
Big fish eats small fish, bigger fish eats big fish. The system is rotten to the core.
Now is big strive to break up the big tech companies. Wasn't Microsoft already broken up? If not, they need to to breakup Microsoft.

The only reason I use MSWIN 10 is to play games. Linux for great for businesses, general web-surfing, and far more secure. I'v had 100+ incidents of security breaching system damage over 10+ years.

Updating my HP printer's firmware, turned on the wifi with auto connect and bluetooth WITHOUT telling me. Resulting in almost 2 years of system failures resulting from hacking. Once, I looked directly at the printer's screens and turning all that WIFI garbage off. My MSWIN problems disappeared. Guess how long that will last before I get hacked again?

If you try to switch to a user only account, nearly all programs won't run without admin access.

My Linux security issues? Once at boot-up many years ago, a prompt appeared to install software. I clicked 'cancel'. Then, did a virus scan with clamav and found the virus. Then deleted all the files. Problem solved!

LInux games, that i'm aware of, are inferior to MSWIN games in quality of graphics and sound. If we can get linux developers to up their game. we might games you would want to play.

GOG supports ubuntu, but I use something else. It's a nightmare to get any game to work across Linux platforms.
Wine is good at it, but the final graphics are of lesser quality and many other problems show up.

Download.com used to be a good source, but a few years ago. The required internet access to install. Github isn't there yet.
Heads up to everyone who wants to be safe and get their missing Bethesda games from gog, there is a Bethesda sale right now:

https://www.gog.com/promo/20201125_bethesda
This Bethesda sale seems to have appeared out of the blue.
Unless Bethesda is launching some new games on GOG this Black Friday I suspect everyone should take the chances to buy now, before microsoft gets them off the store.

I might be wrong, but I don't believe that'll happen.

Microsoft bought Ninja Theory and Hellblade is still here.
They bought Double Fine, and their games still here.
Same for Compulsion with We Happy Few.

Why would it be different with Bethesda?
Who will buy GOG?
