Hello there.

Thanks to this amazing community we got some good names of Classicvanias, Metroidvanias, "Symphonyvanias", RogueLikes/Lites, Soulvanias.. 2D Action Plataformers... So here are the recommendations until now:

To consider [After edit 02-21-2025]:
There are many games on this list that cannot be considered pure Metroidvania games. This is simply because they do not have the 'Metroid' or 'Castlevania' only genres gameplay, necessarily.
Most on this list are action/adventure platformer games with some kind of 'Metroidvania' inspired mechanics: the famous map design, the even more famous 'find X ability to progress' or side scrolling classic Castlevania games are known for.
Decide for yourself what game here should be considered Metroidvania or not, but I decided to add them to the list anyway because to define what a pure Metroidvania is is hard on its own. I wouldn't consider most of these Pure Metroidvanias myself, still, I think they do deserve to be mentioned as Metroidvania inspired games at least.

One more thing to add: This is a list of games currently being sold on GOG, not a wishlist for games we wish to see on GOG. Although... how many Metroidvanias I wish we had here anyways... Feel free to create a thread called:
"Metroidvanias NOT on GOG that we wish were here!" :P!

(...Also, Vendor-Lazarus pointed out a good tool for searching Metroidvanias with many filters.)

.Keys: Hello there.
I'm trying to find good metroidvanias on GOG.

May you please recommend the ones you know?

Already know about:

Alwa's Awakening
Aquaria
Blasphemous
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
Chasm
Dead Cells
Foregone
Ghost 1.0
Hollow Knight
Sundered
Timespinner
Tower Hunter: Erza's Trial
IMHO, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is more than enough considering who made it. Everything else is is icing, nice to have , but not essential.

It seems there's actually a tag for that: https://www.gog.com/games?page=1&sort=bestselling&search=metroidvan

La-Mulana is the one I was thinking of.
Outbuddies DX is fun but I found it rather hard.

Valdis Story is good too with 4 difficulties and 4 different characters.

Ori and the Blind Forest is a must-have if you like metroidvanias. Excellent game, and its new reduced price is a huge motive to get it even when not on sale.

Also, the Guacamelee series are great games. A bit more focused on melee combat (as the title suggests) with great humor and theme in general.

Hollow knight is a masterclass of design that even Igarashi could learn *a lot* from
(I mean, he's probably played and enjoyed it lol, but yeah metroidvanias are an ever-growing genre, each with their own identity, don't dismiss other games like that)
No idea what you'd consider good, but here are some more metroidvanias on GOG that weren't named yet:

Apotheon
Dust: An Elysian Tail
SteamWorld Dig 2
Yoku's Island Express

Hollow Knight is the best Metroidvania. Period.

Also, I see this one escaped your list ,)

Unepic would be pretty good if I could get my gamepad to work with it
I think the Shantae series is also worth mentioning.
Throwing in Momodora, Apotheon and Valdis Story.
Thanks everyone for the recommendations.

My concept of a good metroidvania is a "pure metroidvania".

By "pure metroidvania" I mean a game that unites both Metroid style of gameplay, a plataformer with free 2D non-linear exploration and Castlevania story focused singleplayer with real time combat, leveling and power up systems. (Metroid + Castlevania, in essence.)

Not to be confused with Classicvania, because the first Castlevania games were most of the times, linear 2D plataformers with action combat while Metroid were always about exploration and acquiring new equipament to access new areas of the map.

The 100% pure and model to define future Metroidvania genre, imho, being Castlevania Symphony of the Night. The closer a game gets to SOTN, the better it is, or, in this sense, closer to being a "Pure Metroidvania".
