B0SC0: Could never get into Slayer - their sound just didn't appeal to me.
I've only listened to a handful of Anthrax songs, so haven't formed a concluding opinion on them.
But honestly, we all know the real debate is Megadeth vs. Metallica and, IMO, Metallica wins hands-down. While I can appreciate Megadeth's sound and the technicality behind their play (they have the better musicians, excluding vocals), Metallica have the much more developed and appealing sound. While I'm not always happy with what they've done, I can still find tracks on every album that I enjoy and could easily spend a day listening to them, regardless of the mood I'm in.

Madhouse, Caught in the Mosh, Among the Living?
Well Metallica does have a more accessible history I mean they are more well documented than Megadeth in some cases.
And the band starting from Kill Em' All to Black Album was quite the Metal Journay from playing in clubhouses to whole Arenas.
Elmofongo: Make a petition to change the Big 4 into:
Testament, Testament, Testament, and Testament :D
darthspudius: Testament, Exodus, Destruction and Celtic Frost! Testament, Testament, Testament, and Testament :D

And oh yes Destruction man, they made the quintissential Thrash Metal song:

damien: Slayer for me is the best one among the four, followed by Megadeth. But this "Big 4" name is total bullshit. If there is a Big 4, Testament should be there... And Kreator! How the hell did no one mention Kreator???
I like Kreator but they come across as a German Slayer. Slayer is a big enough head ache without a duplicate. You have my sympathy lol.

My personal choice would Kerry's and friends band called Slayer :p original line up and for the albums would be Reign in Blood > Season in Abyss > South of Heaven > Show No Mercy.
The rest of the big 4 Metallica (ride the lightnng, justice for all, and master of puppets), Anthrax and Megadeth (just heard a couples songs from both band). other underated band (least here) Kreator.

XD Yeah I know. I was just talking out of my ass. A few years ago they all got together and played "Am I Evil?" which was sad because when they finished Dave tried to hug James and Lars and they both kind of blew him off.

darthspudius: Hell Awaits is a great album. Before the band went into stages of shit production and repetition. Needs more respect. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yew9L0Xjm_g

Ulrich formed Metallica - he'd placed a posting in a local newspaper looking to put together a band as he had a track spot on a local demo.
To go off on a point - I think looking at Metallica, you can see what happens with a lot of metal bands on how they go "Mainstream".
I'll link this small clip: https://youtu.be/2Ca4qJKVHNc?t=6m3s

Too lazy to go browsing IMs, but one of the lads in our web development team showed me some of what he'd class as their better stuff before, and it didn't catch me enough to remember it. Prior to that, I'd heard the song "What Doesn't Die"on a Nuclear Blast compiliation album, which really caught my ear :D Madhouse, Caught in the Mosh, Among the Living?
