tinyE: SLAYER!!!!!
though after 'Reign In Blood' I'd go with 'Seasons in the Abyss' which used to bother me until Kerry King went on That Metal Show and said 'Abyss' was hands down their best record. Well, I don't know if he used the exact word "hands down" but he wanted to! :P

Am I the only one who thinks Metallica from I say 2000s to now they suck at playing their songs live?
James voice sounds so bad. The tune of the music does not sound like the albums they came from and they play too fast and the guitars too distorted.
Megadeth and Slayer still sounds the same in their old age.

Hetfield's metal voice is long gone. I've seen them last time in 2009 or 2010 and it was the most boring concert I've ever been to.

Slayer would be my choice. Never veered from what they were thrash heavy metal.
Mettalica has some good early stuff - Master of Puppets, Justice for All, but then went bad, Fuel for instance was naff.
Megadeath also had a some moments - Rust In Peace. Then he went - well you know - and it spiralled downward from there.
I agree, saw them in Belgium a few years back doing their Old stuff. The fireworks were the best bit, although it did bring some nostalgia. Its true, we can never go back.

Countdown to Exctinction was OK. I like Skin O' My Teeth, Symphony of Destruction, and Sweating Bullets. Mettalica has some good early stuff - Master of Puppets, Justice for All, but then went bad, Fuel for instance was naff.

And Megadeth certainly regain their Thrash roots in 2004's The System Has Failed and United Abominations 2007.
And Justice is Metallica's best period.

john Bush era, the albums weren't very good but they were killer live. Though he kind of got dwarfed on the reunion tour. That was frickin awesome.

vicklemos: Anthrax, John Bush era.
"Only" was, according to the Metallica dude, a song Metallica itself couldn't even conceive.
PERIOD.
BOOOO! :P

I like both dudes, that's all. But Bush sounds better.
Try to listen a crossover between Belladona and Bush called "Ball of Confusion": it's an old song from the band Temptations and features both vocalists (kickass song if ya ask me) :)

vicklemos: I agree with ya, darth. But, to me, their songs "Only" and "Black Lodge" can't be mimicked. They're spectacular tunes; even though their album "Sound of White Noise" isn't that great, it -relaunched them and gave the band new life and scored a top 10 on the Billboard albums chart back in 1993. I like both dudes, that's all. But Bush sounds better.

There’s only one good album in all this according to me:
"Kill ’Em All" by Metallica (1983)
The fact that I don’t like thrash metal has surely something to do with this choice ;)

Elmofongo: Was he like this during say 1995? The Black Album was the last "Metallica" album. When Metallica still had their image.

darthspudius: That album was fairly average. if you don't like thrash you would like their Load and Reload material. Ditches the thrash for a more blues orientated style. It's great stuff. "Kill ’Em All" by Metallica (1983)
