darthspudius: Hell Awaits is a great album. Before the band went into stages of shit production and repetition. Needs more respect.
avatar
Elmofongo: When did that happened by the time of South of Heaven? Seasons?
South of Heaven is a great album but the production of it is god awful. Sounds like the band playing in a fridge with cardboard boxes for drums. Every album after that was just rehashing the same old.
Btw guys, Mercyful Fate and King Diamond destroy every single one of these bands. :D

Than I take it you hate Metallica's rendition of Mercyful Fate's songs:

Actually that is what initially turned me on to the band. One thing I like about Metallica and Iron Maiden. Great when you're a kid but they direct you to the better stuff. I'v found stuff like Helloween, Manowar, Mercyful Fate, W.A.S.P. etc thanks to these guys.

tinyE: Interesting considering the Dave Mustaine formed Metallica. :P
avatar
B0SC0: Ulrich formed Metallica - he'd placed a posting in a local newspaper looking to put together a band as he had a track spot on a local demo.

avatar
Elmofongo: Which songs did you listen from Anthrax?

Madhouse, Caught in the Mosh, Among the Living?

Well Metallica does have a more accessible history I mean they are more well documented than Megadeth in some cases.

And the band starting from Kill Em' All to Black Album was quite the Metal Journay from playing in clubhouses to whole Arenas.

B0SC0: Too lazy to go browsing IMs, but one of the lads in our web development team showed me some of what he'd class as their better stuff before, and it didn't catch me enough to remember it. Prior to that, I'd heard the song "What Doesn't Die"on a Nuclear Blast compiliation album, which really caught my ear :D

To go off on a point - I think looking at Metallica, you can see what happens with a lot of metal bands on how they go "Mainstream".

I'll link this small clip: https://youtu.be/2Ca4qJKVHNc?t=6m3s
Am I the only one who thinks Enter Sandman sometimes sounds like a Michael Jackson song?

Mostly how the song starts and ends with that ballady part. I mean all I can hear is Michael shouting "HEE HEE!!"

You listen to songs on an album whose cover is said to feature essentially Bloodied Cum/Spunk?

Also Unforgiven 1 is better than 2 ;)

Also one of the best concerts I have ever seen. They are incredible as a band live.

Nope. As musicians I think Black Album, Load and Reload are their most competent music. Their songs actually have structure. They actually show restraint and they have good production.

You know I'm tempted to make a troll thread and post 4 of the most despised "Rock/Metal" bands of the 90s and Early 2000s.

I'm thinking:

Limp Bizkit, Nicklebeck,????,????

Got anyother suggestions for the 2 bands from the dark age of metal?

You know Nickelback isnt all that bad. They have a reputation but generally as a band they can keep up with the rest. I would say Limp Bizkit, Slipknot, Nirvana annnd Linkin Park. Every serious rock/metal head despises every single one!

I think a lot of rock fans would contest Nirvana being metal. My early punk days in the late 80s, early 90s was spent listening to the Bleach LP. They were more of an olive branch between old punk and new grunge.

I'd add Kid Rock to the shit bands list. Always disliked his music. I know he's respected as this big songwriting genius, but I have no use for that rap/rock garbage. It always stunk to me as a poor retread of Beastie Boys stuff.

He did say rock and metal. But they're universally hated by real musicians. Ironically they spawn a legendary drummer.

Funny, because I'm the only person I know that actually likes that record. XD Mind you, I don't think it holds up with the first four, but a lot of people get violent when I brink it up, like it is some sort of plague on the genre. :P

I look at An Justice For All as a plague. Everything wrong with the band right there!
Metallica has always bored me. If I have to choose from only these four I'd say either Slayer or Anthrax.
