SeduceMePlz: The Nuclear Blast newsletter introduced me to this Swedish band:

AVATARIUM - All I Want

AVATARIUM - Moonhorse

heavy metal, doom metal, female vocals

Lovin' what I'm hearing, ordered the first album and the new EP. >:)
Great band...I was blown away when I first heard them on Youtube. Kind of a Doom Metal Black Sabbath meets folk music kind of thing. Not quite like anything I have ever heard.
Huh so Batman does like Metal despite that Fortunate Son Comic Book:

I'd like to give a quick mention to indie thrash/death metal project Vargskelethor, who writes metal songs about video games and comedic subjects in the same vein as Deathklok. Not the best, but for a one man band, he's not bad.

Skeleton Metal - Skeleton Whale
The Revnarok - I'll Kick Your Face Off

JUst another reminder for any Pantera fans in the UK this week.

101% Pantera are touring to commemorate the death of Dimebag.

Free gig at Gibsons in york this Friday - and another (presumably) free gig on Saturday at the Inretpid Fox in London.

https://www.facebook.com/events/544654192332038

Sadly dont have the link for the Fox gig, but I think theres a poster file uploaded to the event I have linked.

I'll see thee at Gibsons if yer there!
Anybody in the mood for some symphonic folk metal?

Wilderun - The Coasts of High Barbaree

By the way, these guys are currently running a Kickstarter campaign to help finish recording their second full length album. If you're into that, their Kickstarter page is here.

Kalmah - Deadfall

the guys know how to play.
With the end of the year in sight, the time is right to say that my choice for metal album of the year is:

Erdentempel by the German symphonic folk metal band Equilibrium

And the runner-ups being:

Origins by Eluveitie (celtic folk metal)
Massive Addictive by Amaranthe (pop metal)
The Quantum Enigma by Epica (symphonic metal)
Shadows of the Dying Sun by Insomnium (melodic death metal)

Anybody else care to share theirs?

Anyone here knows the band 'Antestor'?
Imho, they're underrated.
Their album 'The Forsaken' is one of the best I've ever heard.
Odd... but doubly relevent due to thread and crossover content:

A petition to get Oderus Urungus (deceased singer of GWAR) on Mortal Kombat X = closing on 11,000 signatures.

"People who are familiar with GWAR know Oderus Urungus, (played by Dave Brockie) the former singer of the band, unfortunately passed away last March. Oderus was as hilarious as he was viscous, and also one of the most colorful and creative characters not only in rock history, but also history in general. Though his music will live on, what better way would there be to further immortalize (toasty) Oderus Urungus then to have him be a playable character on Mortal Kombat X."

Has anyone heard of Ganzig recently?

BATTLE BEAST - Touch In The Night

Refreshingly nostalgic sound for old farts like me ;)
