does anyone here regularly use a mechanical keyboard. i had the chance this past weekend to use a keyboard with cherry mx blue switches, so i think im going to take the plunge but i don't really want to spend more than $100ish dollars. can anyone advise?

While I don't have any actual recommendations at your price level, I did get a list of Cherry MX Blue keyboards from newegg -sorted by price- and about two handfuls of them are under $100.

Personally, I use a Qpad MK-80, though I've no idea where you'd find that on your side of the pond, and it would probably costs a bit too much for your taste anyway.

I've had one of these for about a year now and I really like it. I don't like that typical mechanical keyboards are overly loud particularly if you type quickly but I do like anything that is well made and of high quality.

There's a lot of opinions on this topic, I suggest finding one of those guides or forums where the "experts" outline in details what separate them between plastic and of course each other with pros and cons.

I use a logitech G810 Romer-G switch keyboard for work and feels great and have that rubber dome feel with a spring click.

But if you are into the straight forward keyboard with cherry switches I would go with this guy here I use this for gaming only and some typing. but this is a cherry blue so typing is amazing on these keys.

it's the Kingston Kyperx keyboard and it's 99 dollars and has build quality that matches that of a 200 dollar keyboard so win win for you on that one and it has a simple look without those ugly macro keys and stupid wavy designs.

they are Fn amazing and I am getting one soon for my typing at home.

I'll vouch for the Unicomp. I'm using their Ultra Classic 103. If you like the old school buckling spring style keyboards, it's a pretty good way to go.

I have a das 4 ultimate and a corsair strafe both with MX blue switches (so really running the pricing gamut) Blue switches are more for typing than gaming, and that's primarily what I use them for, but yes definitely worth the plunge.

The difference between the > $200CAD das and the < $100CAD corsair isn't substantial - the key switches are the same after all. People get caught up in the details of things like stabilizers, but compared to the jump to a mechanical keyboard it's very minor - not worth spending a ton of extra money on.

So in my opinion you can't go wrong, but if you want something cheap I have personal experience with - the corsair strafe.

I've been looking at the Unicom Buckling Spring myself. 7 pounds of steel and plastic but now you don't have to buy an adapter.

how is the quality on it so far and how long you had it? does it hold up years of use and keep its click are the keys solid?
I need some info if you can give me every little detail about these guys cause I am tempted on getting one next month.

all I know so far is they are very comparable to the original and have a good click feel when typing that's it haha

Well, they literally own the buckling spring patent from IBM. Some say that there are faults, but that mostly seems to be with the casing rather than the actual build quality.

For that price range I'd probably do a steelseries apex m500. The Nixeus ones aren't too bad though.

I was looking up about the build quality of the body and some say they could have done better but over all it is a solid clone, Well next month my wallet will hate me so much haha, Thanks for the info!

No recommendation for a specific keyboard model, just a word of warning. Avoid the Cherry MX clone switches (from Kalih etc.). They suck and it is not worth the trouble. Go for the real Cherry switches.
