I'm asking here since the games involved don't have their own forum for some reason.

I recently bought M.A.X and M.A.X 2 in the sale but when I tried to launch M.A.X 2 all I get is a black screen. I double checked the system requirements and my laptop meets them, and ran a verify/repair through galaxy but the problem remains. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong and how to fix it?

Here you go.
Thanks I don't know why I was routed to the general forum when I clicked the forum link on the M.A.X 2 page in my library though.

A bug with games that were initially bundled and then unbundled.
Well the M.A.X board seems to be dead so I'll bump this in the hope someone knows what is wrong and how to fix it.

tried adding it to the list of DEP exceptions?!
Honestly I don't know what a DEP exception is much less how to add one. Tech is not my strong suit.

Well, I've just downloaded it to see if I've the same issue, but sadly I don't. try the DEP thing as outlined in the post I linked. if it doesn't work for you, then we'll see what we can figure out.
It says DEP is set to only apply to essential Windows programs and services only.

Hmmm... i think you may not be running windows as the administrator - that may even be the entire problem. Unfortunately its 5:45 am here, and I've not yet slept, so I'll be of little use until ive sparked out for a while.
I only have one profile on this computer and it is set to adminstrator.

are you sure?! - because in win 7, the actual admin account is hidden and you have to access it via a command line (for example).
