Leroux: Good call, I bet that's it. For some reason, I put something in there as well, not realizing you could leave it blank, and I have yet to see that warning.
WinterSnowfall: It's not. I've had my birthday set since forever and still can see the warnings. Once per HTTP session, as I've mentioned initially. nightcraw1er.488

Thanks, but I think the information we really need from GOG staff at this point isn´t whether the feature is new, but:
1. How exactly does the warning system work? (I have my birthdate set in my account but when using Galaxy, I get the warning every time I click on a game, not just once per session)
2. Will this be all or is GOG planning to implement further age verification systems / blocks?
Here´s some educated guesses for my fellow GOG users as to what´s going on: As far as I can tell, the warning comes up depending on the age rating a game has in the GOG catalogue (which might be different from country to country). For example, I get mature content warnings for the Overlord games, both of which have USK ratings (German ratings board) of 16+ shown on the store page. I don´t get a warning for Graven, presumably because that game has no USK rating on the store page yet, as it is in development.
This might even be preparation for including an automated process in line with the IARC system. For those who don´t know: For a couple of years now, there has been an international effort to create an automated age rating system ("International Age Rating Coalition") where game developers can fill out a questionnaire and get a sort of preliminary age rating, depending on the laws of the country they want to publish their game in. That way, devs can release their games with an age rating even if they haven´t had their games reviewed by the respective organisations (like USK, PEGI etc.) yet. As far as I am aware, some countries already have legislation which requires games stores to implement this system - and yes, Germany is one of these (new "Medienstaatsvertrag" introduced some months ago), but I think other countries in the EU are also planning to create such legislation.

Yes... I did. I agree with you but we also need to keep in mind that -trust- begin somewhere.
Here in Christmas Island DOB is not illegal, but yes, a clever guy could start pulling the string thru social engineering...
Do you notice a response to my question did not happen?
And as several people mentioned, DOB is sensitive info...
SmollestLight could you please comment to keep my -trust- high and intact?
I also notice -today- Genesis Alpha One or Cyberpunk 2077 or STALKER did not trigger the warning to me (while in the last days they did). Regards
Edit: pointed the quote to #36

kohlrak: Pareto distribution is not strictly negative consequences. The original explanation was actually positive: that 80% of the wealth is created by 20% of the people. Then people realized that, at least as far as humans, it applies to just about everything. 20% of criminals will create 80% of crime, for example (didn't even check up on that). It's just that 20% of people will be good enough at whatever to make up 80% of the total (we seem to be reliving history with fatherhood starting to apply again, as well [a bit of an exaggeration, as it's still about 80:70 right now]). Better yet, it'll continue within those 20%s until you can't zoom in any further (you get below 10 people). It really makes sense when you start interviewing budding game deves, and you find most people are just stepping into something for about 1 hour tops and bail if it's unsuccessful (which is how people are with really anything).
strange how human behavior can follow a common trend we should make decisions based on this like only 20% should vote 80% not

Trust should never start on the internet. Imagine the Wild West, ruled by opium den magnets, presided over by beelzebub. Well that somewhat close to how bad the internet is. Here in Christmas Island DOB is not illegal, but yes, a clever guy could start pulling the string thru social engineering...

In terms of your question, some people have said they don’t get the warning when they have their bday set. I haven’t had the message and I have a fake day month. So it should be the same, perhaps it’s session based, not logging out and in to find out though.

I had cherished some hopes that this new "feature" will allow me to watch the movie on the Mad Max game' shop page.
No luck, though.
Despite having my birthdate in the settings, and clicking OK on the mature content warning.
Come on,gog, I am over 50 now.

It's not GOG's fault, the trailer is on YouTube.
