So, I suddenly jerked up and said, "holy shit, I have to play MoO right now." Unfortunately, I don't have it here on GOG and don't have any money, but I have had a disc copy lying around since I was like, 8. So I grabbed that sucker and popped the disc in and, after clicking the install button a couple times, it installed on my 64-bit Windows 7 system. Of course, there's a problem with that, the problem being that it's the Windows 95 version and everything says that it's much easier to just get the Dos version and use DosBox. But you know, work with what you got.

So, I checked what DX version it used (6 apparently), and checked to see if anybody had used DGVoodoo with it. Apparently someone did, and said it worked (with some issues) so I decided to try that. I got an error about needing DPLAY.dll, but apparently there's a solution for that, so I did that. However, now when I try to start it just does nothing. I've tried Windows 98 compatibility and Windows 95 compatibility and get the same results.

Has anybody gotten their Windows 95 version of MoO2 working, or should I just give up and hope the mood is still there after Christmas when I should have at least a bit of money?

I don't think that'll work with the Win95 version. I guess some copy of the game came with both versions, but sadly mine does not appear to have the Dos version.

Edit: Yeah, I don't have the orion2.exe, just orion95.exe.

Did you read the page?

Young people these days......

B) I have installed the Windows version orion95.exe. Why should I read this guide?

First, most MOO2 CDs contain both versions, i.e. orion95.exe and orion2.exe. Second, even if you own just a "Windows only" release (e.g. the Atari Download version), you should take into account that there are just minor differences between Windows and DOS version. It is patchable with the last official 1.31. Proceed with step 1B in this case.
