[This is a sticky post, it will be visible in every single page of this thread. It has been published in October 2020.]

Our moderation team decided not to take a side in the discussion since this giveaway thread was created by the community and, as long as there are no forum rules violated, is up to you, dear Gogers, to decide its fate. We will not set giveaway rules, edit the OP's post, nor lock the whole thread.

However, to make it easier for newcomers to understand the situation (about the OP being inactive and other), I will stick my own post right above the first one.

You are, of course, free to create new threads to start anew and make your own, clear rules. At the same time, please stay reasonable when crating them, as multiple new duplicates might make it even more confusing for many Gogers.

That being said, here you can find a post with dxenija's community poll to have better understanding of the situation: CLICK.

At the time of writing, open giveaway threads are:
- Massive Giveaways Blog (this one)
- Free (temporary) keys giveaway central topic.
- Updated Itch.io giveaways

Be nice to each other *flies away*

Space Wars: Ship Battles

"Engage in epic battles to destroy the opponents' ship, while defending that of your own team. Determine your tactic, will you overpower the other ship with your ship's turrets, will you take control of the opponents' ship or will you blow up the other ship from within? Be wary though, because your opponents might board your ship to blow it up."

Thanks I got it.
Sorry for popping in like this, only just noticing the post, but this link is invalid. It turns up under a Google search under the proper SEO, but their page comes up with 404. :(

EDIT: NVM, it appears this was taken down. There's a blog explaining some of this:
8/10/18:

Well that was a spectacular failure...

I suppose it does happen, the disappointment in people, the failed experiment, then again... If it was a sure thing, it would be called a sure thing, not an experiment right? So every app, game, and book went to free for 2 weeks. People flocked and downloaded about 150 downloads in a few days. The hopes and dreams were that since they were able to download anything and everything for free, that would have freed up some money to donate to the dev team, or even better, help support a new author in the Amazon store. The book was not very expensive ($7.99) compared to how much people saved downloading everything for free. But alas, not one sale on Amazon for that author, not one penny in donation, not one review for her book after people downloaded it. Sad, it was a heart felt book, one that took a lot out of them. A true story of struggling, pain, and the strength to move forward (something that is very important today). Maybe her book was a little too inspiring ;) putting my faith in people, but these things do happen... I did think about just cutting the sale now, but I suppose there is still some hope. 6 days left... I wonder if anyone will donate to her efforts?

Not nearly enough time for the charitable types to get in on it. Ninjas strike fast and hard. A true test would have been to leave it up for a couple of months.

You know what's odd? That the post in question doesn't say who the author was, what the book was, or provide any link to them.
And yeah, that wasn't likely to be in any way successful in asking for donations, and much less for advertising a different product elsewhere. Wonder how many, or in fact if any, of those who downloaded the games (which, by the way, were very few, I mean 150 downloads put together for all the games in 2 weeks, if I understand that correctly? That's basically nothing) were even aware of that. And two weeks to review a book grabbed for free... yeah, highly unlikely.
Looking at my reviews for free ebooks I grabbed... Let's see, in chronological order, listing time between getting it and posting review...
3 days, 3 days, 1 month, 1.5 months, 2 weeks (copy given directly by author), 1 year 7 months, 2 years 2 months 2 weeks, 6.5 months, 1 year 1 month (and the author's a friend), 1 year 3 months 3 weeks, 1 day, 5 days, 1 month 1 week, 6 days, 2 weeks, 3 years 9 months 3 weeks, 5 months, same day (but short story), same day (but again short story), 10 months, 2 years 10 months 2 weeks, 2 days (but another short story).
And I make a point of at least writing a quick review for each, after I get around to it. So... yeah...

I don't know if it's been mentioned somewhere already, but it seems Origin has ended its "On the House" program of temporarily free games. Well, in the last year or so it was mostly repeats anyway, but still worth mentioning that it's gone now, I guess (unless I just don't find it).

EA did't announced that, but yes, they closed the program :/
