[This is a sticky post, it will be visible in every single page of this thread. It has been published in October 2020.]

Our moderation team decided not to take a side in the discussion since this giveaway thread was created by the community and, as long as there are no forum rules violated, is up to you, dear Gogers, to decide its fate. We will not set giveaway rules, edit the OP's post, nor lock the whole thread.

However, to make it easier for newcomers to understand the situation (about the OP being inactive and other), I will stick my own post right above the first one.

You are, of course, free to create new threads to start anew and make your own, clear rules. At the same time, please stay reasonable when crating them, as multiple new duplicates might make it even more confusing for many Gogers.

That being said, here you can find a post with dxenija's community poll to have better understanding of the situation: CLICK.

At the time of writing, open giveaway threads are:
- Massive Giveaways Blog (this one)
- Free (temporary) keys giveaway central topic.
- Updated Itch.io giveaways

Be nice to each other *flies away*

Curiously enough, DLC 'freeness' happened for me only in the Web, but not within the Steam client ... but just so, managed to add it to my Library.

Just to be clear here - despite the similar URLs, these are actually TWO different pieces of content - which BTW look to me more like exploratory stuff, and not actual 'games' (haven't tried either of them though).

And thx a million @Catac1ysm !!!

drxenija: 500 error due to massive traffic

EGS Site Status Tweet

If it does not work for you now, try in an hour or two.
Now 403'd. Uh oh!

I had sporadic access but the page kept refreshing itself before I could claim it. There was a bit about some kind of package, which wouldn't apply for another week after activation. But it's stuck now. Got a whole week though for it to be resolved, I hope.

The next one appears to be another mystery. Hopefully the same hiccup won't happen, but I also hope it is good.

Even if you happen to claim it, download speed has been limited due to heavy traffic, so be patient. You have a whole week to get that.

They would be content for Origin and Odyssey, no? I haven't loaded it up either, but I know Odyssey has exploratory content that was one of 2 parts of the game. If its standalone, cool. If I have to have Odyssey, well....I dunno what that would entail.

EDIT: They appear to be standalone, so, YAY!!! Still haven't downloaded at the moment, so I don't know if it ends up linked to either game. Other than that, the funny bit is the FAQ banner leads to a link that has been 404'd. Yeesh!

They are standalone versions, however they are also available as free updates if you own the respective base game. So you don't need to claim the Discovery tours if you already own the corresponding game.

I tried out Odyssey on a free weekend once previously, which is why I know they are in the main game when I already mentioned that it had that feature. My question was referring to the transitioning of data in the standalone because I know I only did a part of where it was in the main game and suspended my activities exploring and touring the open world to start the main storyline, which I know my activities already does count in the main game as far as the Ubisoft Club is concerned whether I own it or not.

EDIT: My question has now been answered. I have to start all over from the beginning. It's apparently treated as a separate "game" (even though the .EXE is AC Odyssey, it's still far removed from your Ubi account) and of course the main game isn't included because of it. I'd expect as much for the Egypt one. At least I didn't waste all my time on it, so I won't be extra burned out having to do everything twice.
