Did GoG add in a few new games? I swear I didn't see Xenonauts or This is The Police the first time (yes I know about the "tabs" for the genre categories ;) ).

Chandoraa: Wow, this sale was totally unexpected... NOT!!! Also disappointed about the lack of a long-overdue old-school Insomnia Sale complete with keaning and whatnot. I'll take what I can get, though.
There has never been more than one Insomnia sale per calendar year, and we already had one this year (not a very good one, but we had one ;) ).
avatar
BranjoHello: Kind of a late Fall Sale this fall...in a month there will be Winter/Xmas sale (excited about that one).
avatar
HunchBluntley: Actually, it's early compared to the last couple years (at least). :)

avatar
Telika: A bit confused by the discounts on the "free loot" page's suggestions.
avatar
HunchBluntley: Do you mean to say that 15 francs off a 30 franc game is not "-33%", and that 3 francs off a 35 franc game is not "-60%"? I'm no rocket surgeon, but it all checks out for me!
I think you're using the wrong term. It's rocket appliances.
avatar
The-Business: So what's up with Build Your Own Bundle? Can't see the deal if I pick the selected number of games.
avatar
ElTerprise: Well looks like the bundles in general seem to be buggy. The 90% on the Double Fine one is clearly misleading because selecting every game gives you an 80% discount.
Won't argue about it being a bit misleading, but it's working as intended: 90% off is the highest discount possible on an individual game in the bundle (Stacking, Psychonauts & Costume Quest are all -90% when the whole bundle is selected).

Ixamyakxim: Did GoG add in a few new games? I swear I didn't see Xenonauts or This is The Police the first time (yes I know about the "tabs" for the genre categories ;) ).
Yes, they threw those in along with the release of Xanadu Next, I believe.
avatar
triock: But the sale is for 10 days, not only 7. ;)
ah ok good.

Thanks I thought I was losing it for a second there LOL.

That's correct but shouldn't it clearly say 'up to 90%' upfront then? Didn't those sale bundles usually mention the maximum discount on the entire bundle before? Personally it's worse in the case of the BYOB ones....
avatar
ElTerprise:
Hi! Is the sale thread going to draw out anyone else too? ;)
avatar
Vovchigus: BEAMDOG BYOB is not working. I own everything except SIEGE OF DRAGONSPEAR, but if I choose both editions of Siege then it is still -15% only...

Even if you choose Every edition of Siege + already owned Buldur's gate 1, 2 + Icewind Dale then it is still total discount -45%. GOG why do you promote it as -75% BYOB?
It's a little misleading, but it's working as intended: 75% of is the largest possible discount on an individual game in the bundle, not for every game overall. The highest discount possible for Siege is only supposed to be -15%.

Like I said, I won't pretend it's not a little misleading, but those of us that have been through at least a couple of these sales should pretty much "know what they mean" by now. Of course, that doesn't help the newbs/very infrequent customers much....

avatar
Digital_CHE: The XP thing MUST be a permanent feature on GOG, and not only a SALE feature.
NO.

avatar
Vovchigus: GOG, please, leave those XP, cards, and skins to Steam.
Seconded so hard.

Ixamyakxim: Hi! Is the sale thread going to draw out anyone else too? ;)
Hey :)
Good question but I don't know ...

That could easily be solved by making that entirely clear in the FAQ (although only few people actually read those). I personally was confused at first (when i posted in this thread) about it - mostly because i assumed that it might've been due to already owned game but I found out that it is exactly as you described it - I guess brand new games or pre-orders in a bundle makes it unlikey to get an overall high bundle discount. I could've noticed that earlier xD
avatar
Painted_Doll: The usual question from me : Will all bundle and individual game deals be available on the last day ?
avatar
JMich: Yes.
Well, if you don't count any games which are silently pulled from the sale before the end because their agreement with GOG only covered so many days, or they change their minds, or whatever. There are pretty much always at least a couple such cases in any of the big sales of this kind.
avatar
DampSquib: ...because your ID system is utterly wank.
avatar
nigelbeans: HI. I read this and checked your location, expecting you to be from the UK... I don't know if they say this anywhere else!
I don't either come to think of it, strange, you would think our majestic way with words would spread.
avatar
PrinceOZx: hmm when I pick anything from the Paradox Bundle the Price of Pillars of Eternity the white march expansion pass
changes from 16.09€ discounted to the regular price of 23.99€.
Anyone else with that problem?
The error seems to work like this:
0 or 1 items selected: discount = -32% (in my region, anyway; I'm assuming it's within one or two percentage points in most other regions & currencies);
2 to 9 items selected: discount = -0%;
10 to 30 items selected: discount = -40% (again, might vary slightly by region/currency).
I actually wouldn't be surprised if the "base" discounted price is erroneous itself -- $16.76 stands out like a sore thumb in a bundle where everything else ends in .x9 .

avatar
DieRuhe: Got it. Apparently I stopped scrolling too soon!
Never! Stop! Scrolling!
=)

avatar
LiefLayer: I think the xp this time is not enough to reach the first free game. with 7 days check in you can get 700 xp + 3000 xp.... after that there are two events where you can get 300 xp (since there are 2 events you can get 600xp).
= 4300 xp.

there are still 700 xp to get the first game.

Still Little big adventure 2 for free is a really good deal.

Maybe if there will be a sale on Aladdin, mirror's edge, Crysis... I will buy something during this sale
avatar
Cavalary: [...] And wasn't it 300 for first goal, another 200 for the second last time? Or smth of the sort...
Nope, 'twas 300 for each successful Twitch Plays event.

Thank you GOG, for this great sale!

And what made me more happy: my salary arrives on this monday. :) So, i will wait if Far Cry or Wing Commander series will appear with discounts. Or will buy other great games - my wishlist is over 270 games right now and i need to reduce it. :)
