ANNOUNCEMENT:

As part of the Linux support change, GOG has also modified their game card information (mostly behind-the-scenes HTML). Because of that, MaGog temporarily cannot update some fields of its database (genres, file size, stars, number of ratings, release date, operating systems, languages, companies, game modes). This is most noticeable for the new SPAZ (Space Pirates and Zombies) game.

I will endeavour to fix this over the weekend, as well as add Linux support information.

Keep up the good work! MaGog is great!

Thanks for that.
Being familiar con requirements changes while developing software I hope this scenario is not too bad.

ANNOUNCEMENT:
Version 2.4.0 has been released with the following features:
* Added filtering by and display of Linux information under "Operating Sys" and "Sys Reqs (Linux)"
* Made the "Sys Reqs" display checkboxes default to unchecked, unlike all the others (you can always change the default and MaGog will remember your choices)

Note: Did you know that there are games that support Linux but not Mac?

Yes, I noticed. They should be quite a few more in the coming months too. However, I am also expecting the corresponding Mac versions, particularly for DOSBox games. It will be interesting to see how long that actually takes.

ANNOUNCEMENT:
Version 2.4.1 has been released with the following features:
* Added a link to MaGog's database in text format (see the third bullet at the bottom of the engine page) [indirectly suggested by lugum]
Uh, I tried to use Magog from an Ipad away from home but.. I forgot that all my custom tags are stored on my local pc.
Do you think you'll ever be able to implement a proper user account system for this? :\

I doubt it. Accounts mean security and security means headaches, which I'd rather avoid.

But you can do what I do.

I don't have an iPad, but I have a Kindle Fire HDX.
I use a cloud application that automatically reflects one directory from my PC to a cloud server which is automatically reflected to my Kindle. This feature is built into the Kindle, where it is called Cloud Drive. All I need to do is once in a while "Export My Fields" to that directory and it "magically" appears on my Kindle.
I expect Apple has a similar feature (perhaps iCloud?). If not, there are free alternatives everywhere (e.g. DropBox).

If you don't like clouds (rain and such...), you can save the exported file on a USB disk drive and carry it with you (I also do that, just in case). Unless an iPad doesn't have a USB slot (which wouldn't surprise me...).

The Ipad wasn't mine and it didn't have any USB.
Anyway, I understand your point and the solutions.
Thanks

Here is a really demanding, yet absolutely awesome feature that I'd love:

Would it be possible to access the gogwiki database and search through people's wishlists? I know it's probably tough, but people would love you for it XD

I'll give it a think.
To better understand, could you please supply me with examples of how you (or others) would want to use such a feature.
Please offer concrete examples of what you might want to search.

Here's some:

Search <gamename:"Gone Home"> in <user wishlists> -> return users who have "Gone Home" wishlisted on the GOGwiki;
Search <category:strategy> in <user wishlists> -> return users who have any game with the strategy category wishlisted and the number of such games in their wishlist;
Search <developer:"Ice Pick Lodge"> in <user wishlists> -> return users who have any game developed by Ice Pick Lodge wishlisted and the number of such games in their wishlist.

All these could also be applied to people's libraries on the GOGwiki, then to compound searches of these two, et cetera, et cetera. It could get horribly convoluted, but really, I'd be mostly interested in the first case. Thanks for considering it :-)

OK. Got it.
I will put it on my todo list. It's rather a tall order, but I will try to make it happen. No promises.
Don't expect it soon, though. We're probably talking months, if at all, as I have rather a lot on my plate now (and always), besides MaGog.

But...

Since you suggested this, I'd like you to do something.
There might be people who would not want their wishlist/shelf on the wiki to be easily searchable. I need to know about them, so I can exclude their pages when collecting data.
I recommend you create a "call for comments" thread, where you outline your suggestion and ask whether people have any objections (in general or specifically about themselves). You might want to ask also whether most people keep they wishlist/shelf updated on the wiki. If most don't, it might not be worth the trouble of writing such an extension (GIGO).
You might want to give the thread some catchy title such as "To All the Users of the GOG Wiki" or "Giveaway" or "The Real Truth about tinyE".
