Aww, I wanted to download the data after the last update, but of course I forgot to do so yesterday... RIP MaGog. :(

Does anybody know how to force the download of magog.txt from archive.org into a file instead of displaying it in the browser? A download with wget or curl from archive.org unfortunately does not contain the data.

Edit: Saving the archive.org page from the browser not only gave me an html file, but also a magog.asc file, which looks like the real data. But I'm not sure if the file is complete.

@mrkgnao: If you still have the magog.txt and gogmix.json files could you please post an MD5 or SHA checksum of the files?

I've restored the files so you can download them. I'll leave them online for a few more days.

To some ridiculous irony mrkgnao is pulling the tool right about at the time when GOG is really becoming untrustworthy place unworthy of customer attention (you know, EGS ordeal, Devotion, ignoring community feedback FOR YEARS, etc).

I guess I'm a bit late, but I still wanted to say goodbye to MaGog. I joined fairly late compared to all the other [former] GOG enthusiasts and MaGog has always been part of the GOG experience for me. It's difficult to comprehend she's now gone for good.

I took a lot of inspiration from the project and mrkgnao has been a very reliable source of technical advice. Without him GOG DB might not even have come into existence. Thanks for all the work!

Remove the 2nd http from the Archive link, and put the URL between quotes to be safe, and it'll work:

Also encoded the : for good measure, not sure if needed.

Since people seem to want them (despite their already being outdated), I decided to leave them on the website (like the outdated changelogs, that someone has already come across).

MaGog has been a good companion through time, but your statement is respectable.

I would like to thank mrkgnao for MaGog, it was a very useful tool. But I am also very disappointed with this decision, since GOG itself didn't benefit from MaGog in any way, so only users were affected. I only used it occasionally, and I did not see the "MaGog will be gone" message in time.

As for GOG not benefiting from it:
1) It's well known that GOG employees had used MaGog extensively, as it offered information and search capabilities not available elsewhere.
2) Because of MaGog's usefulness, I am sure it helped users make more informed purchases and ultimately more purchases, so indirectly it made GOG more money. Since I (and many others) are now boycotting GOG, it makes sense not to have MaGog assist in the purchase process anymore.

I really start to miss MaGog :(. I'm discovering DLCs that I missed the announcement for games that I own, now I have no way to check if I missed also others :(
