BlackThorny: I can't recall what you told was the first price listing? Did it manage to capture brief temp prices such as Insomnia deals after that point?
I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, but MaGog itself was unable to capture insomnia prices, as they changed too quickly, but once the insomnia sale was over, I retroactively fed all the sale information into it, so the current best/last sale information does cover the insomnia sale.

Wow that's so awesome of you!!!
I meant that I remember you said once that Magog started capturing prices at some point, but doesn't have older prices, such as 3 years ago or so? For example I don't think the first insomnia prices are present as I know for sure that Shelter was cheaper then.

HypersomniacLive: Are you thinking of not updating it anymore?
I'd definitely like to keep it going, but I've been too distracted by other stuff for several months now, and don't really see that changing any time soon.

MaGog's memory extends to her birth, late May 2014.

Also, it seems from your previous post that you're interested in which games have the "best ever" discount during this summer sale. Here is a link that lists all those games (i.e. games whose current discount is higher than or equal to any previous discount since May 2014, using the same sort order you have used in your query):

Well done mrkgnao, just ran a scan on your website, not one ad, or tracking cookie that I know of except for a thing called 'Mint' but ghostery blocked that anyway.

keep up the good work

all the best

Thanks, that's a good query! my previous query (or this one) though also shows the date of previous sales with similar discounts?
Is it possible to make a query that will show all previous sale prices within the specific discount range, and arrange by current highest?

I'm not sure I understand. Can you give an example? The price column's contents is the same in both queries.

I may have been unclear. While MaGog's memory extends back to May 2014, she does not keep a full history of all sales. She just keeps information about the last sale and the best sale (which may well be the last sale).

Oh, and the price of the best sale is always updating, as in every time the current best is better then last she stores the new value?
It may also be useful to include a calculation of price changes into the best discount price, for example Blitzkrieg Anthology went from 9.99 to 6.99 starting September 23, so even if Magog had a record of it being 85% discounted earlier it would actually be more expensive than the current 80% off from a 5.99 price.
Not that I assume you have the time, but do you think it could be possible to retroactively feed sale information of sales before Magog's Birth, such as the first Insomnia? If so could it have a special tag for temporal discount (and if going that route, might as well add a temporal 100% discount status to previous freebies and or special promotions [such as the Van Helsing one or Hard reset Redux])?

Well my query was aimed towards listing Current Best & Current 80+ Discount with a listing of Previous Best (If not now).
But on your query it doesn't show anything that has a smaller discount then Previous Best, even when above 80, such as Trine 2...
Considering your other response, it's may be somewhat misguided to only list Best Discount, though these occurrences are quite rare.

Yes.

I'll look into it. Thanks.
The main reason I didn't bother with it until now is because this occurrence is pretty rare. Based on a quick examination, at the moment there are only six games where this "correction" would change anything.

I will consider adding pre-birth sale information if a dependable source can be found for it and someone would be willing to compile the information. Also, I do not want to have gaps in the timeline, so I will add, for example, information from January 2014 only after all the information from February to May 2014 has been collected.

I decided early on not to add tags to the sale information (complex enough as it is) and not to consider freebies as sales. I believe I shall stick with that.

There is no "Previous Best". MaGog only displays "Last" and "Best". The reason Trine 2 has two entries displayed is because Last and Best are different. The reason Trine 3, for example, has only one entry displayed is because Last and Best are the same.

It's not a question of guidance, it's a question of money.

I rent a virtual server for MaGog (and my other website, Fweet) and I pay for it based on the resources (RAM, HD, etc.) available to me. As it is, it's pretty expensive ($22.50 a month). Were I to keep much more information on each game (e.g. full price history), I would have to move to an even more expensive plan ($36.00 a month) and I am not really willing to do so. This is why MaGog keeps only Last and Best sale info.

I returned MaGog's update schedule to its regular times (1h45m earlier than in the past week).

Probably a silly question, but will you update the changelog of MaGog if/when you make any changes to her?

If you mean the MaGog changelog on the website (http://www.an-ovel.com/pages/ma_chng.php), then of course.

The MaGog website continues more or less as before, changelog included, except that some things may take me longer to figure out without forum support. For example, it appears that Frozen Cortex has a different library ID, but I don't have any way of knowing what it is. I will have to wait for Barry_Woodward to upload his library to the wiki to figure that one out, and it's impossible to say when that will be.

If you mean also posting it here, then perhaps.

I meant the former, hence the "probably a silly question" preface.

You know that we'd gladly help with anything provided you let us know what it is, and I don't think that posting here will make a difference; the bond with MaGog is strong and can't be broken. It's also a, mostly, off-site one that benefits us on-site.

You can always take it upon yourself (yourselves) to remind Barry_Woodward from time to time to upload his library to the wiki.

On that note, June 2016 will be MaGog's most active month yet, by far.
The previous record was December 2015, with 3,998 hits for the whole month.
So far in June (just 17 days), we're already at 5,249 hits (more than 800 today alone).
