DrDungeon: Hey ho! 'Tis done! 'Tis ready! Tested! Doesn't crash! No bugs! What's the holdup? Its this registration/purchase stuff I'm new to. Me! Dr. Dungeon! Its the part where you download the demo then want to buy it. So you get some special code. Generating that is easy, but not sure how it gets to the player to enter a specific code for the game. Working on figuring this out as the game sits here, ready to release!

Also looking into Steam Greenlight. Seems the next logical step. Also, there's a preview review on the RPG codex by Deuce Traveler who played it through.

Yes yes! It looks a little like Ultima VI but plays like VII. Lots of detail. Loads of interaction. Bizarre story. Steering away from the kill the evil wizard stuff. Snappy interface. Must get it on gog somehow! Got to get working.

Playing too much Mass Effect lately. Like Mordrin..Mordin? Favorite character! :)

Anyone have any know-how about this code registration stuff?

You can even pop popcorn in Madman! And pick oranges. Works like a charm! Thanks for the interest guys, I'll be in touch.
-Dr. Dungeon
-In the Castle of The Mach Gryphon

P.S. He's right. I AM eccentric! Or maybe went mad. Took almost seven years to make this. Auuuggghhh!!!!!
I recall the old Spiderweb Software games used to use a demo that you could unlock to get the full version of the game by entering a code once you bought a game from the site. Perhaps Jeff of Spiderweb Software might have an answer as to how that goes? :)
This looks bloody great, thanks for bringing it to my attention Mr Crosmando

Might be worth adding this to the Avernum and Ultima forums here. I wont do it myself as it wasn't me who came across the game.

I don't see any mention of it on the RPGWatch forums, anyone a member over there ?
So this is "by hacks and glorified fan-fic writers to take a dump all over the great works" called Ultima? Crosmando would be last person I expected to endorse something like this!

Those were the games(the old Exile ones) that sprang to mind when that was mentioned too :)

RPG Watch members don't play classic RPGs. They prefer popamole games. ;)

Except this game very much looks like it's faithful to it's inspirations, as opposed to say making a "Lovecraftian" game and then giving it first-person action combat and Minecraft-style graphics.
Bump for labours of love and madness :)
A quick bump with an update. ( a quote from the developer when asked if the game would be out this year)

It should. All that's really waiting now is two final music scores - I need a wee bit more cash to purchase the rights to use the music. Not a lot, but this time of year I'm always a little short. Then its just a matter of setting it up with an installer and figuring out the whole business with how people go about purchasing with a credit card to get a code number, etc.
Most likely I will get it on Steam Greenlight, which will give me an idea of interest level as these last finishing touches are done.
I love RPG's but that is literally the prettiest game I have ever seen.

A quick update with a new gameplay video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSiVpFACXDc

It doesn't seem as 'smooth' to me as previous videos. Reminds me of the Spiderweb games.

Dr Dungeon says its 'likely to be going on Steam Greenlight in the next few days'

I've had no reply about a GOG release
This looks rather charming, colour me intrigued.
I kind of wonder how the actual gameplay will turn out.
If it's any good, I'll definitely try this.

Crosmando: So I managed to find an interesting thread on RPG Codex:
http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/drdungeons-ultizurk-and-madman-games-thread.71952/

It seems a rather eccentric but talented older man who goes by the name "Dr Dungeon" is making a new cRPG called MADMAN which seems to be highly inspired by Ultima VII, as you can see by the gameplay and tile-based graphics. The game features an open-world, 9 character classes, 11 skills and a bunch of very Ultima-like features such as the ability to bake bread, knit clothes, make potions, etc. Dr Dungeon as you can read apparently made a whole lot of shareware/freeware Ultima clones during the 90's, but this project is his "Big One", with upgraded graphics for widescreen resolutions!

Official site (with screenshots):

Gameplay video (narrated by the man himself):

Character creation video:

It's likely that this game will be out within a month, and maybe coming right here to GOG.

Elmofongo: Did you also know that someone converted Ultima 1 into a tabletop game?

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.848403-Entirety-of-Ultima-1-Ported-to-Print-And-Play-Board-Game
http://ultima1.ultimacodex.com/ultima-1-the-board-game/

Hmm seems it is free to print out and you can build the gameparts yourself.

And downloading...thank you for pointing it out, Elmofongo.
