Yeah, it's a very much "Love it, hate it" kind of movie. And yeah, it's fucking awesome. So, after praising Interstellar for someone finally doing a relatively intelligent AAA sci-fiction, I'm here to praise Mad Max for finally doing utterly insane AAA action blockbuster. I didn't even know a new Mad Max is in the making, and so it has sort of suddenly emerged in the midst of all the comic-inspired action movies and mopped the floor with all of them.

And boy, was it an action-packed master-piece, fully aware of its silliness and insanity. Forget about a story, the only reason for the movie to slow down is so you don't get a heart attack. Forget about deep and meaningful characters, altho most of the characters on display here instantly have more character than 90% of characterless manequins you can see in modern movie theatres. There's no philosophy, there's no honor and there's no sanity. What there is, however, is the most imaginative, testosterone-filled (yes, women also contain testosterone, shock horror) fight for survival I've seen in years. The movie doesn't need a good story to be mindblowing, it doesn't need clever twists to be surprising, it doesn't even need to build deep personalities to contain good characters. It's so bizarre and utterly unique that I'm honestly surprised it gets as highly rated as it does.
Yeah, it was a good movie. I really thought the cohesive setting really brought it together. The movie really felt like it was just a moment occurring in a greater world. A glimpse into a different world.
i wasnt even aware it was going to be released any time soon
I am looking forward to seeing this film. But I am also curious as to why it's suppose to be such a feminist movie, like I keep on reading in different places. Can't be its just because the female leads do action stunts. That's not something new, so I am curious about this.
It has just got 'Filmweb recommends' mark, so a must-see!
My daughter's really pumped about seeing this one, and since I liked all the previous Mad Max movies (yes, all of them) and I'm a huge fan of Charlize Theron, well... I'm in.
Saw it on sunday with my son, I thought it was shite, he thought it was great (age 15).

There's actually supposed to be a graphic novel tie-in getting released, and yes, the portrayed world felt great.

Yes, it contained a bunch of strong badass female characters. If that makes it feminist, whatever, I can't say I care :D

Both....:P Him :)
I remember the original Mad Max movies. But then, I also remember Reagan.

Is this another sequel or a remake?
I hate it for all the reasons you loved it. At least I know I don't have to try to finish it on DVD. :)

Sequel. Kind of. There are some oddities in the continuance. And while there's a lot Mad Max in the movie, it's also not like the old Mad Max movies. It's basically just Mad.

It was absolutely not for everyone. I'm just happy we have an action movie with actual thought and imagination put into it.

My understanding is some people are upset because Theron gets as much or more screen time than "Mad Max".
But seriously, whatever, who cares. Don't let social politics affect what you watch. I haven't seen it yet, but from the stories I've heard, if you like non-stop action films and don't mind if they have a plot or not or whether the plot makes sense, you'll like the movie.
