Grargar: I'm confused? Where is the digital premier?

"It's been a long weekend for Star Wars™ fans among us. Today marks the return of Lucasfilm on GOG.com: WAVE II, with the final batch of three Star Wars™ titles including one last digital premiere! "

??? None of these three games are new to digital distribution.

ReynardFox: Yeah that has me confused as well...
Me too...
Nothing for me, but I already got Kotor 2 and Empire at War from Wave II, so I can't really complain. Quite the opposite actually, I'm glad I don't have to spend any money, because I'm poor as fuck. :p

As it stands, the only games I would have insta-bought would have been Jedi Academy and Zak McKracken, anything else would have had to wait anyway.

ReynardFox: I think Jedi Outcast had a better story, but IMO Jedi Academy is the pinnacle of the series from a gameplay standpoint.
avatar
Siegor: Is that the one with Kyle Katarn? If yes, then I agree about the story but I really loved the lightsaber-play in Academy.
Yeah, I agree, Jedi Academy was the best, combat-wise. Too bad its level structure didn't make much sense, what with you basically having to do only some missions and the only element of freedom being picking the order in which to do them? They could have gone for fully linear at that point - though an Open World (well... Galaxy) Jedi Knight game would have been much more awesome. But nothing to say on combat, the combination of multiple styles, double lightsabers and double-edged lightsabers was perfect.

Now of course someone needs to do a hilted lightsaber mod :D.

triock: Nothing for me in the last batch, will wait for Wave III and IV. :p
They should have just called these Star Wars Wave I & II instead of Lucasfilm. ;)

But it was one wave...
... in 3 doses.
So can we expect to see Wave 3 : Revenge of LeChuck?

I know but this makes for a better joke, but yes technically we got a 1.5 Wave of Star Wars in four doses overall. :)
Thanks GOG.
Well, I guess its time to wait for Wave III. I got almost all the games I want. All that is left is the remaining Jedi Knight games, the first Battlefront, Shadows of the Empire, and The Force Unleashed. Possibly Battle for Naboo as well.
Meh, not gonna lie, im sort of dissapointed with the last 3. There is no digital premiere here, all of them were already available through steam, and thats where i bought them months/years ago. Oh well, the rest was top notch!

Shame im missing battlefront 1 and rebel assault games here, those are more GOG than republic commando
Nice, will wishlist Republic Commando for now, but Jedi Knight is a instabuy for me

Hope Wave III includes Outlaws.

Aw really hoped that Star Wars Racer would be in. It's hard to make it work easily on modern hardware/OS...

Still, great news for Republic Commando and Jedi Knight, even if they were already available digitally.
This has been a great week overall in terms of new games.
I feel ya bros... This last batch of games was a wasted chance by GOG.com. Don'0t get me wrong I appreciate the effort they putted in this secon wave, specially the XW series being fully available on digital distribution with no DMR, pluss Rebellion and Galactic Battlegrounds, two RTS games that were pretty neat back in the days, (more tan the overhypped, boring as hell, plain dull Empire at War... allready on steam btw). But this last countdown... 5 days waitting for 3 games that are not the best ones in Lucasarts library (except Jedi Knight) and also which have been allready on Steam for a long long time; let's face it, we allready bought this games on Steam when they were anounced, and only the most hardcore fans are gonna buy them.

In my oppinion the final batch was poorly coordinated or choosen. They should have reserved some digital premiere with this final batch, allthough I don't think we have seen the last of these waves yet. Perssonally I was waitting for some of the games glamorville pointed, including from my personal whishlist Rebel Assault I & II, or some other classic Lucasarts tittles such as Maniiac Manssion, Day of the Tentacle, or Outlaws. But no, we had these three tittles.

My personal score for each batch on this wave:

-Batch 1 with XW vs TF, Dark Forces, KOTOR II, Battlefront 2, Galactic Battlegrounds and XW Alliance: 8/10

-Batch 2 with Star Wars Rebellion, Empire at War and Rogue Squadron: 7/10

-Final Batch with Starfighter, Jedi Knight and Republic Commando: 4/10

Overall score 6'75/10: Started great, gainned some mommentum with second wave but tripped on the last mile of the road with 3 allready releassed by direct competitor. Let's hope wave III has more digital distribution premieres and even more classic and better games tan the final batch of this one.
Yeah, the last wave was kind of meh for me. Only Republic Commando caught my attention, and not nearly as much as some of the earlier SW releases. Still, kudos to GOG for bringing Disney into the fold.
