If you answered yes to either of those questions, then this might be the thread for you.

So, recently I won a redeem code for Syberia here on GOG through a Gamespot giveaway. The big issue with that is - I already own the game. The key was awarded randomly so I didn't really have the luxury of choosing something I didn't happen to have in my library already. Initially I had planned to just drop this code into the Ninja Giveaway thread, but decided I'd give people who aren't subscribed to that thread and eyeing it like hawks three heartbeats away from starving to death an equal opportunity to get the code (assuming there's anyone out there who doesn't happen to own it already and wants it - I mean, there has to be at least 5 of you out there... right? Right?!)

But, you may be wondering what the whole "running backwards" bit in the thread title has to do with Syberia or any of the nonsense I wrapped around the general point of "Syberia code giveaway" up there. Fret not, I'm going to get to that now.

I decided that I'd make this a dual-purpose giveaway. It's not that I'm ungrateful to the RNG overlord of the Gamespot giveaway for granting me a win, it's just that I'm a friendless ogre who already happens to have that game and I'd hate to have it go to waste by the time it expires (more on that at the end of my ramble, I promise!).

So, I bought a gift code for Serious Sam: The First Encounter. You're thinking "ohhhh, I get it now... this obnoxious lout was referencing what you spend most of your time doing in that game - backpedaling and unloading an arsenal into things that want you dead... uh oh, here come the Kamikaze meme flashbacks." And you're right! I am an obnoxious lout and that's precisely what I was doing in a really unsubtle way.

Anyway, time to bottom line things (rules, because we aren't lawless heathens and we exist in a polite society, yes?):

- If you want to enter, just say you're in (or "I am entering" or anything befitting of your personality that signifies to me that you're entering - I'm flexible on it and if you feel like you have to put in some effort then feel free to post something you feel satisfies that but know that it won't tip the scale in or out of your favor).

- Only enter for one game - Syberia or Serious Sam: The First Encounter - but not both. I don't want one person walking away with both and ultimately I can't please everyone so this is about the fairest scenario I can come up with and it at least guarantees that if you don't like/want/have any interest in one game, then you can be in for the other.

- Enter for yourself only, please. If you know someone active with either game on their wishlist, point them here so they have a chance at getting what they want.

- I'm going to say a limitation on who can/cannot enter would be...no accounts created after February 2019 (it seems arbitrary, but that was the time I entered into a lengthy hospital and rehab facility stay so it's a time period fresh on my mind). I don't have anything against accounts made past that date and I'm mostly doing this because it seems like a fairly common practice when people far nobler and gracious than myself do these types of giveaways (sorry, I'm a sheep like that, I suppose).

- And as far as reputation goes... pffffbbbbbttttt. Enter whether you have reputation so far below zero that it would take you years just to hit Satan's toilet much less see daylight in the positives or whether you have a reputation so far positive that it just makes your haters in the shadows puke at the very sight of it. Basically: rep, schmep.

...and that should do it as far as rules are concerned.

Now, about that Syberia code expiring (I told you I'd get to it!): the code is set to expire on Monday, July 22nd, one minute before 6:00PM (I assume in GOG's timezone, but if it's mine then it's EDT - I'm unsure which it is and if someone can shed light on it then it would be immensely appreciated). So, to avoid it evaporating into nothingness before that time, I will endeavor to announce the winner of it before I announce the winner of the Serious Sam code (since it doesn't expire).

With that in mind, I'll be looking to announce the winner of the Syberia code on Sunday, July 21st. I'll aim for early morning my time (again, that's EDT) and PM the code to the person (be certain you can receive PMs from mugs like myself!) who wins.

How will I determine who won? Good question - since I won it randomly, I'll let it go randomly. Out of all the people entering for it, I'll randomly select one and... they'll get it. Seems simple enough... I think.

Now, not to forget the Serious Sam code - since it doesn't expire but I also don't want this thread to drag on unnecessarily, let's say I'll announce the winner of it on the day the Syberia code expires: Monday July 22nd at... say, 6:00PM EDT. Again, I'll stick with the randomly chosen winner process so, as long as you enter for it, you should have a fair chance.

Best of luck and thanks for making it through all that "blah blah yakkety shmakkety" I wrote up there!

servobeupstry: Thanks!
Thank you for entering! If it doesn't pick up more entrants, you'll be a shoe-in to win. :D
NOT ENTERING. (Not applicable either, thanks to my join date^^)

I just wanted to help you with the time question.

https://www.worldtimebuddy.com/

Also, not a sponsor of that site.
I mean, not paid or anything, though I do like to use it when I need to join a game with people from different time-zones.
Shit, i love running forward and killing anything in my sight so i will keep myself away from this.

Vendor-Lazarus: I just wanted to help you with the time question.
I appreciate it. My confusion about the time is more that GOG doesn't give a timezone but just a time in AM/PM so I figured people more familiar with expiring codes here might be able to clear up if it's governed by GOG's timezone or not. It'll be a non-issue if no one enters for it since I'll either have no choice but to let it expire or follow up on my original plan and put it in the ninja thread before the time's up.
Not in, +1 for giveaway.
Not in (I don't qualify)

Thanks for brightening everyone's day with this post. I'm glad you didn't drop this on Ninja giveaway, and I hope someone deserving wins.
I'm in for serious sam, thx for chance to win

Yeah... Don't drop codes in the Ninja thread. That just encourages bots and scammers to scoop up codes. MAHAYO (Make A Human Answer YOu). Best way to give out codes!
Well, this was something... I don't know what, but definitely something.

The Syberia code died on the vine, so RIP that.

Since a massive turnout of 2 people went in for Serious Sam: The First Encounter, I went with a coin flip as the decider. servobeupstry got heads, aRealCyborg got tails. I went with best 3 out of 5 total flips with a standard US quarter. Tails came up twice, heads three - so, servobeupstry is the winner.

I'll be sending a message with the gift code shortly. Thanks to both of you for entering and thanks to the remainder of folk who took a read of the thread but didn't enter.

Didn't occur to me that this was a giveaway.

Winner winner chicken dinner! Thanks a lot!

Yeah, in retrospect I realize I should have wrote that explicitly in the title. This was a bit of a learning experience for me so when/if I try this again, hopefully it's less confusing next time.

I would have entered for Syberia. It'd have been a great birthday present if not for two reasons: ① I already have the game since long ago and ② I just saw this giveaway now that it had already ended.
