Is that a personal thing, or a UK thing? Just curious, because here in Romania we have this week's Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off. I'm not a religious person, but they are religious related, state approved, days off.

Nah, just personal.
I'm self employed and we work every weekend, so our two days off a week are Tuesday and Wednesday (I say days off, being self employed its rare any day is really a day off).
