Aemenyn: I'm getting pretty curious about what this mystery game might be.

I mean, there aren't that many early 2000s fantasy RTS/RPG hybrids with a 1st/3rd person mode.
It irrirates me to no end.
I had taken the page from the game magazine years upon years UPON Years ago, out and put it in my back pocket before going to school, I was going to look it up at the library, and forgot about it. It got washed. Don't remember which print of I think it was Game Informer it was. IF I knew about a virtual copies of it or etc, I would skip all the way to the back of the magazines where they did 1-2 games features near the end.

Have you played this game or just read about?

Have you tried looking for scans/back-issues of GI?
I did find this, which lists the content for a lot of issues of around 2002 onward (as far as a quick check could tell), but before that entries seem to be sparse.

Any other any other gaming mags you remember reading around that time?

Please answer my earlier question also. :)

I browsed this site but haven't found anything similar to your description. Maybe it was a mod for some other game?

Did a little more digging out of sheer curiosity, but came up with nothing.
I'm starting to think that it's either a game that never saw release, or OP's memory is deceiving them.
The fact that most US gaming magazines probably didn't cover every bit of obscure eurojank makes one of those two options all the more likely.

Just to be sure Whereaminow25, are you really certain it's not any of the games listed in this thread?

One of the Spellforce games?

Might be a stupid guess but... Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II -- The Rise of the Witch-king

Which, on top of having a pretty long title, had a character creation tool with several races to chose from. The expansion that brought the tool went out in november 2006.

What was Adventure Mode like? Was it like the Hero missions in Warcraft 3? Or was it not RTS-like at all? Because I honestly think you're describing Warcraft 3 and just don't realize how bad your recollection is. Fits the timetable, would certainly have gotten a full page writeup in any gaming mag, and even though it's all RTS, the Hero missions play so very differently (and you gain levels, skills, and gear from them) that you could be forgiven for thinking they're not RTS, since there's no resource management. Plus the camera zoom was pretty intense and you might be thinking the fully zoomed in perspective was 1st person. Give more info.

Sounds like Birthright and warcraft here, but the game had Dungeon keeper 2/ neverwinter night model graphics.

I was probably wrong on the RPG mode, it said Adventure Mode, so I just assumed that was rpg, but I do know the RTS one was 1st and 3rd where you could do rts, then take control of your hero and 1st person.

Read, and it probably will never be found. I was just hoping someone here had a large selection of games. I have a small room sized collection of game disks.

OK, in that case, there is a possibility that your mind tricks you or you have imagined something different by just looking at screens. Third possibility is that this game got canceled / never was released.
