Hey everyone
I've been trying to find an old film I saw in my childhood, but can't remember the name of it. Must have been about 30 years ago, so that makes it late 80s\early 90s.
- The film was about this young girl - maybe 10 years old? She was terminally ill. I think she had long, dark hair.
- She was being raised by her dad, who was single parent. He had separated from his wife, the girl's mother.
- The girl's birthday was coming up, and the dad knew this would be her last birthday, so he wanted to make it really special. So he arranged a garden party for her. And I remember there was a big banner saying 'Happy Birthday [insert girl's name here]' in the garden.
- I also remember him meeting the wife in a dark cinema. She hadn't seen her daughter for years. But she convinced him the best thing he could do for his daughter was to treat her as normal as possible. Don't make a big deal of the fact that she's dying. So he went home, wrecked the garden where the party was to be held, and tore up the big banner, so he could give her a 'normal' birthday instead.
- I think the girl's mum came to her 'normal' birthday party, and saw her daughter again, moments before she died.
Does this ring a bell with anyone? Any help is much appreciated. ( :
