It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

The new outlook program that replaced the windows mail program feels a bit like a trip back to the zero's. Gone is the clean and fresh UI replaced by the clutter of your usual forum mail window. For some reason Outlook gobbles all your mails together, showing both recommendations and send mail from years and years ago. Needless to say, i want windows mail back!

I have totally disregarded the open martk mail software available and i wondered if there are any other programs that look just as sleek or maybe even sleeker then windows mail did.
You could try Thunderbird.
I'll second Thunderbird.
Note that Thunderbird just had a giant negative in its UI in v115 as well. You can undo much of it though. UX designers, always in the race to the bottom.
Alternately, if you're quite into text interfaces, Mutt will do you, should you know how to play ball with terminal applications.

Oh, no... *sigh*
Since I'm the customary computer admin in my extended family, it won't take long before I get the calls for help.
"Aaargh! Everything looks different and unfamiliar now! I don't know what to do! Where's <important thing>?"

edit:
TB115 is called the "supernova" update.
Let's hope it won't explode into our faces like one.

Try Epyrus instead, then.

Outlook > Outlook (New) > Old Mail App.

That so called "Clean and fresh" UI was so clean, you could not even have a permanent view of the folders. You had to either click a button to reveal them all the time, or favourite all your folders. I'm personally glad it's being put out of its misery.

The new Outlook app is way better, though the full office version is still superior.

Thunderbird is not going to be as basic as the old mail app. It was simply way too basic.

If i wanted to use the office version i would have used the online office variant.
As if it was to difficult to maintain the regular customer version besides the already existing office variant.

Another proof of the incapability to look beyond your self so evidently witnessed in current day IT customer service. Though in all fairness. You can't really blame a product for being succesfull now can we?!

Whenever Microsoft keeps multiple versions of something (Mail client, OneNote, Control Panel, Browsers, etc) people complain. Microsoft attempts to merge them (This new Outlook is meant as a replacement for the Office Outlook too), people complain again.

They can't win.

It would help if software UX weren't in a race to making everything worse and worse every version. There have been nothing but regressions in user experience (especially UI) since cca 2013.
Not sure why people keep recommending Thunderbird. I've tried using it for a while, but after the third time it inexplicably reset all my mailbox setup/preferences/folder arrangements without me touching a damn thing I had enough of that, and I just went back to the web portal I was using before.

I can think of one reason. I have been using Thunderbird for more than 18 years now (currently having 11 email accounts), and what you describe above has never happened to me.

I second this. I've had it a long time as well and never had things completely reset.
