I thought I had placed a game on my wishlist, and when I went to look tonight, I could not find it. Of course, it would help if I could remember the title!

It was a horror game, released within the last few months. As I recall, the person was trapped in a building/farmhouse, and they had to find their way out. The view was similar to a FPS. One clip showed a rope, with pulleys, and when pulled, it opened a 'trap door' that led to another room.

Does anyone recall what the game was?

Thanks!
No idea. New release or classic?

Er, I see you posted recent release. Does that mean new new, or new to gOg?

Could it be Obscuritas?

If all else fails, just go to the main store page, click on "New" and keep scrolling like I just did.

There are three our four from the past few months that kind of fit that description but this one jumped out at me.

The only recent horror releases on GOG that I can think of are , [url=https://www.gog.com/game/layers_of_fear]Layers of Fear and Obscuritas.

You can check the horror games on GOG by release date here, too

SOMA but that's underwater.

SOMA has been on GOG for more than a few months, already, I'd hardly call it a recent release.

I really hope the OP wasn't looking for Obscuritas, that game is a scam if I ever saw one, nothing they advertise works, it's just a poorly made game, very ugly (basically preset Unity assets thrown around for good measure), the "adaptive fear mechanic" is a joke and doesn't work at all, and it's just your usual jump-scare fest. I'd steer away from it; fortunately I won it during a GOG twitch giveaway, because I would've spent money on it and get really pissed at myself.

[EDIT] Well, SOMA hasn't been on GOG for *that* long, I guess you're right... but, yeah, underwater post-apocalyptic sci-fi setting, not really something that looks like it would feature a rope and pulley scenario in an abandoned building/farmhouse.

Thanks for the replies! I found it! Is the Amensia series.

I saw Obscuritas in your replies. It looks interesting; but, the low reviews are making me very hesitant.

Good luck. That game is hard. No fighting, just hiding.

No fighting? This seems more like a stealth game than horror as well. I thought the character could find items to use in combat. I agree. That is going to be a hard game.

Amnesia is a great game, if only a tad overplayed -- I found it to be somewhat overhyped; by the time I played it I was expecting more out of it and didn't find it scary at all. And, no, you don't get to fight in either the Amnesia games, not in The Dark Descent and definitely not in A Machine For Pigs, which wasn't developed by Frictional Games, the devs of the first Amnesia.

If you really enjoy Amnesia I'd highly recommend the Penumbra games and SOMA, all made by the same people.

There's also and its amazing expansion, [url=https://www.gog.com/game/outlast_whistleblower]Whistleblower, a great modern horror game in its own right, if you're willing to give it a go.

Like you said before, modern horror games play more like stealth games -- or even "walking simulators" -- than pure survival-horror, in which you got to fight back at the monsters. Most, if not all, of the games I recommended are modern, contemporary horror games; you won't be able to kill or fight against enemies (except for the first Penumbra, in which fighting is an option).
Thanks for the suggestions! I am going to look at them and give a few a try!!
In Penumbra you at least get to defend yourself a little. :P
