You know those open world space sims where the gameplay is basicly a space ship running errands with some story missions?
Are there any games like that, only purly in a ground vehicle instead of a space ship, you know kinda like that old dos game Quarantine just more... new.
The gameplay has to be 100% inside a vehicle and not just simple racing.

EDIT: I am sorry I wasn't more clear, by "more new" I meant anything from 2000 to 2018 (Quarantine was from 1994 I think)

This question / problem has been solved by Telikaimage
There was an old old one I can't remember the name of where you played a cop in the way future. I know at some point you get blown up and come back as a cyborg. The game was top down and basically involved going on calls, missions, making arrests in your squad car/ship.

Of course, you asked for something new, so this post is totally useless. :P

Check out the Spy Hunter franchise.
How about...
BattleZone 98 Redux
Battlezone: Combat Commander
Terminal Velocity
Uprising: Join or Die
Uprising 2: Lead and Destroy

Some of these are pre-2000 though.

Well, I could mention Mass Efffect:
- you are on board of a spaceship (= a vehicle) running errands/ story missions
- you can land on planets and drive around with your Mako (= a ground vehicle)
- it's from 2007 to 2012 (or 2017, if you include ME: Andromeda)

Of course, there are some planetary stays "out of vehicle", and your "purely 100% inside a (ground-) vehicle - gameplay" - criteria isn't entirely met, since you fly around in a spaceship for the most time.

;)
It's a remastered version of a game from 1998 but why not give Vangers a look as it seems to be something you may be looking for?
Maybe not exactly that, but you could check the absolutely brilliant Mad Max adaptation.

Or the slightly disappointing Convoy.

Or Hard Truck Apocalypse, which I haven't tried out yet. Or even the older Interstate series maybe.

Instead of something new, I'm going to recommend something old because it seems to match up with the rest of your criteria: Traffic Department 2192

Download

That was the game I was talking about earlier, thanks for the name.

Is that Download legal? That doesn't look like a legit site.

According to MobyGames, PC Gamer and Wikipedia, the game was released as freeware under a Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivs 3.0 license in 2007. The download link is the one provided in the Wikipedia article, but it's probably available on other sites too.

Did you consider becoming an Uber driver? You'll make some money in the process too!

Actually, looking over the site a bit, this seems to be an example of abandonware done right. Most games are shareware, but some games are full versions released into the public where they include information about the game's official release into the public domain.

That is what abandonware "should" look like...

Hard Truck Apocalypse might be pretty close to what your looking for, actually. Its sort of like Freelancer with trucks. I use freelancer as an example, because Hard Truck Apocalypse has the same sort of setup where your moving from one area to another in a linear-ish fashion, but within each area, your free do do what you feel like. Im not going to say its an amazing game or anything, but I liked it enough to play through twice.
