I will be staying alone this Christmas. I would love to play a good , moody game. preferably not very hard or at least not frustrating. i am thinking about something that would make me feel lonely, on my own , in an alien world. .. Ideas?

EDIT : Anything for PC, native or emulated, new or old, AAA or indie

You're going to spend Christmas alone and want a moody game that makes you feel alone and like you're on an alien world? Dude, just make yourself a drink and hang out with us here on the forum. We'll help you check off every single one of those requirements.
Max Payne

It's moody as hell, downright surreal at times and you're all alone against a whole city of criminals during one of the worst snow storms ever.

One of the last games I'd normally recommend for Christmas, but seems to fit what you ask for to a T.
I have the perfect game that matches your need.

No Man's Sky.

One of my favourites. :-)
I played this not long ago. I was very surprised how good it was. Well maybe then their previous game, Downfall? I haven't played that one...

The problem is, the last time I tried it (retail ), it didn't work on my win7 x64

Also, Last days I played and finished Sang-Froid . I can definitely recommend this for Christmas. maybe not very easy, but good snowy and dark atmosphere

Maybe Waking Mars might work?

A bit expensive and unfinished. I rarely play unfinished games. .. and if I do, I regret later

Edit : sorry, I mixed up comments . i am talking about No man's Sky here

Probably not exactly what you're looking for (it doesn't play on an alien world), but I'd recommend Alien: Isolation. It'll definitely make you feel lonely and on your own - trapped on a space station together with a Xenomorph!

It's not exactly "moody", but effin scary. And it's not frustratingly hard... After you've learned that you're not supposed to run or to use your weapons ;) It's the perfect game to play when you're alone. Play it in a dark room and crank up the volume. The sound effects of this game are one of the best sound effects I've ever heard in a video game!

I played and finished that quite recently. Very nice gane for an indie, especially different endings left a great impression on me
If you're looking at alone and moody, you should try some hiking games, like Morrowind w/ Overhaul mod, Oblivion or Witcher 3. All good for that purpose, don't have to do the main quest, just explore around. I think The Long Dark may work too, but I haven't played it yet.

I still think No Man's Sky is the best choice, for this purpose. Alternatively, I heard good things about Empyrion - Galactic Survival, but it's not on GOG. (And Steam is down).

Or Pokeman Go.

There are few sailing games I might recommend like Sea Dogs, but can't say they are not frustrating.

Just play Super Mario World.

If you can find a way to play it, I recommend NiGHTS into Dreams.

How about Alan Wake then? It's the next best thing.

Thanks, this might a good idea. I will try Max Payne again too. I have a Win XP on VMWare set up, so it should work this time...

I find this a great idea. However, I have been playing classic Rebellion's Alien versus Predator 2000 lately and I'd rather take a rest from this setting for now. I know that this is very different game and probably for much better. Tbh, I do not enjoy AvP Classic that much.
I think Alien Isolation will be much more to my taste. A great candidate for next Christmas! :-)
