NickZah: Do you try Parkan 1 and Parkan 2? Semilar with No Man's Sky but without procedurally generated stuff.
Huh, those look really really cool. And weird, but in a good way. Definite buys from me! Do you know if they're any good?

When first part been released in 1997 this was a very cool game, but today looks old, reminds me mix of Wing Commander with Star Wars: Dark Forces. Parkan 2 (available only in Steam) with much bigger, better graphics and action, but characters and world looks more cartoonish (first Parkan was depressive and darker). So if I remember more same games I will write here.
I guess Battlecruiser Millenium would fit all 3 points :
- Main game is flying a space cruiser
- You can drop fighter, troops and tanks on the planets and take control of them
- The world is constant and not randomly/procedurally generated (something like 2 dozens star systems)

VERY complex game, though, and the ground combat part is really barebones.

I think I'll buy the first one later today -- thanks once again for the very interesting suggestion!

It looks sort of like Carrier Command but in space, is that accurate?

Carrier command? I played the first game on my Atari 520. Good times ^^

And yeah, it kinda reminds me of that series, but much more complicated (seriously, the Battlecruiser games are very indimidating, even for a simulation fanatic like me. "I found a 30 minute tutorial on the web just to learn how to make an orbital strike" intimidating. But their obsessively complex nature was part of the charm)

OT but I'd love a good old fashioned flight sim in here, something not too recent, preferable early 2000's, even before that, and no fighting (I love air combat but even I need a break).

For some reason as soon as Steam gets a new version of something in the they immediately pitch the old ones, and a lot of those early games are still a blast to play.

Kardwill: Stunt Island?
I did look at that, but I was thinking more of the MS Flight Sims.

I still might pick up Stunt Island one day.
Ybeyve been said but ill echo:

Arma
Take-on helicopters
Kerbal space program

All are good games. KSP is exceptional.
