I hadn't played Civ V in quite awhile, and so thought I'd give it a try again today. Boy had things changed. Everything looked different. But the worst part was when I clicked play, the game was unplayable due to several graphical issues. So I posted a thread in the Civ V forums explaining what was happening. I got three responses offering advice so I tried them but to no avail. I finally did figure out the problem though and went back to thank those three and tell them it was fixed when I noticed it had been deleted. I figured some sort of bug or error had occurred so I posted another thread explaining everything and THAT THREAD was deleted and I got this message:

I have no idea why my thread was deleted, but I just wanted to post for those folks who offered suggestions on what to do that none of those worked.
However, I was able to find a solution. As I said in that thread, I had played this game before it had just been awhile since I had and boy had things changed. When that original box came up with all of the links (videos I guess???) I pressed play and of course it was unplayable due to what I described in the prior post. But then I noticed it was set on Directx9. I changed it to Directx10 and boom, now it works. I got the opening sequence I used to get (the old guy in the tent with his son entering... one of the most beautiful computer generated graphics scenes I've seen in computer games) and started a game and it worked great.
So thanks for trying to help. I did redownload and reinstall but it turned out to be the Directx version that was the culprit. I do really appreciate the offers of help though, as that's why so many of us clueless folks post here lol. Thanks again.

You might want to double check before you conclude. Your post was moved to the correct subforum. Where you should have posted in the first place.
You can post in that thread again if you want to make an addition.
I posted these on the Civ V forums so I can't see how it's "off-topic" and neither thread contained any kind of spam I can assure you.
What the hell is going on?
The part in the quotes from "I have no idea..." to "Thanks again." was my second post in it's entirety. What the hell is off topic or spam about that?
