OldFatGuy: Dude, for the umpteemth time. I did like I always do, went to the game in my library, clicked on details, and clicked on discussions. This takes you to the game forum. If it took me to the wrong one then that's on Steam not on me. And did yhou see the screenshots? No I'm guessing because if you had you would have noticed that the forum I posted in IS ABOUT CIV V gameplay,.

BigBobsBeepers: Then you need to unlearn that beahvior and learn the correct one, which is rwading each forum's rules and posting to the proper subforum in each game's forum. They are listed on the right hand side in a blue box.

Once at a game forum you still need to follow each one's rules as each forum has different rules. Some game's forums might allow everything in the main forum, and some might not.

It is not on them to hand hold each user but the user's responsibility to read the stickied rules and post in the proper subforums.
Oh for fucks suck. Just a Steam fanboy who blames every problem on the user. Probably didn't even look at the screenshot. Just kneejerk stupid reactgion to blame the user. Go fuck yourself.

Yes the main forum is on gameplay but there is a subforum for tech help and support linked on the righthand side.
Are you a Steam mod?

I am not telling you such things to be rude. I told you you were wrong and explained how and why, and what to do in the future to avoid such problems. No need to bite my head off over it.

I saw the screenshots, and several others explained how you were partially in the wrong as well in the prior posts to this thread. You seem to be mad at steam and it's moderators and cannot see helpful critique as what it is or you do not want to admit you made a mistake and want to deflect by being rude.

The forum you posted to seems to be on Civ V gameplay, but the issue you had was tech support related and they have a subforum just for that and it's probably a rule to post all tech support topics in that subforum. You didn't read the forum's rules and they moved your thread, then you made a new one because you didn't know they moved it and they warned you over it because they thought you were trying to spam.

Both you and the moderator made mistakes it would seem, and I should have emphasized that both of you made mistakes in my first post, but I forgot to and I also didn't think you would take critique as if I were trying to be hostile.

No. I wouldn't wish that sort of job on my worst enemy. I just know through common sense and using steam how the forums work. One posts in the right subforum and most times they won't even bother you. Of course there are some bad moderators who have a stick shove up their rear. That much is true.

Okay, and I'm glad I abandoned my Steam account, just for this reason.

Because of the bad steam moderators or the rules about using proper subforums?

I ask that much as many forums require people to post in the proper subforums and a good number also count it as spam to remake moved threads in the wrong forums.
its just another forum, run by people. people are flawed. sometimes things are arbitrary an'/or unfair

you always seem on teh verge of a nervous breakdown. relax a lil'

All of the above.

This is true. And while the starter of this thread should have been given notice of his thread being moved by moderators on steam, he should also learn each steam forum's rules and follow them to avoid such mishaps.

Tauto: All of the above.
Some forums are more strict in their rules. Their house, their rules. This does not make them bad forums or moderators by default though. Of course there can be and often are exceptions.

Funny, i never noticed Steam moderation to be strict?

However, i have a god awful memory, so if any of my posts were deleted or moved, i would never know it!! lol

My memory is so bad, i often receive parcels at the door and my first thought is "wtf, i didn't order anything" then when i open it and see what it is, i immediately remember "oh of course, now i remember".

Okay here's the screenshot of the forum I posted in. Mind telling me where on that screen I (or anyone else) could see that this is the wrong forum? I'll be waiting while you try and contortion yourself into an answer.

To be as clear as can be, I wasn't trying to be rude or insult you when I posted the first reply to this topic. I was trying to show you where you messed up and help you to avoid such problems in the future. One way to do this is to unlearn certain behaviors like automatically assuming posting anything game related in a game's main forum is allowed in every steam game forum. This is not always the case. If a game forum has subforums it is usually a rule held by many moderators that all posts go in the proper subforums within a game's main forum.

You are expected to read the rules topic in that screenshot, which is the last stickied topic listed. It should usually say to post in the proper subforums(in this instance it would be community support listed on the right once you are in the main Civ V forum), and even if it doesn't it is often an unwritten rule to post to the proper subforum within the main forum as a matter of etiquette and good manners.

I'm not trying to take sides, but Bob doesn't have any games here. :P

I'm not saying that your forum conduct should be dictated by the size your library, but he doesn't even have ONE. XD

probably the pinned post at the bottom that states "forum rules" - not that it appears to have stopped anybody else of course.

regardless, the moderator seemed heavy handed to me.

I read the entire post. No mention whatsoever of "sub forums" and in fact it starts off with this quote

This topic has been pinned, so it's probably important

Forum rules
Hello!

Welcome to the official Sid Meier's Civilization V Steam Forums, and thanks for taking the time to look at this big pile of text. The rules below are intended to help create an inclusive, inviting community for newcomers and forum veterans alike. They’re also designed to make content easy to find so the community and developers can benefit from your input.

16 rules listed. Not one mentions posting in any other forum/

Yet you kneejerk react that it's somehow my fault. And it is rude and obtuse. In fact you're being an asshole and I suspect you know it.

Screenshot show the whole thread.
