GOG.com: We are slightly adjusting local pricing due to changes in currency exchange rates.

Due to recent significant changes in currency conversion rates, we need to re-evaluate and update the local price values for the products on GOG.com. When preparing for the launch of our local currency payment options we've monitored the conversion rates for 18 months, looking at the average, and rounding it to the closest 0.09. That's how we came up with - for example - the 4.49€ equivalent for the $5.99 price-tag (with 4.51€ being the average converted price out of the previous 18 months). With fairness and clarity in mind, we decided to stick to the prices calculated this way, and only update them if a really considerable change in currency exchange rates would occur.

Unfortunately, this happened much sooner than anyone would expect. There are evident changes in the conversion rates for almost all currencies used on GOG.com. Therefore, we are forced to adjust some of the local-currency prices of the GOG.com catalog items.The prices are changing only by a small margin that allows us to compensate for the recent shifts in currency exchange rates. Here's a representative example of the pricing changes:

For $9,99 games:
- the EUR price was: 7,49; is: 7,99
- the GBP price was: 5,99; is: 6,19
- the AUD price was: 10,89; is: 11,49
- the RUB price was: 359; is: 389

The changes will come into effect on Wednesday, October 1 at 12:00PM GMT. We apologize for any inconvenience this change may be causing you. Please remember that you have the option to switch your preferred currency back to USD in the site's footer.

We will continue to monitor the exchange rates and apply further updates. Hopefully, we'll see the rates reverting to their more beneficial state soon, so that the next small price update can be in everyone's favor. We will communicate any future adjustments in the forum thread for this topic, so please follow it if you're interested in the future development for local prices.

It's much very expensive than Steam now,but I'm unfortunately expected this after the exit of GOG from HUEZIL u.u

Any chance in the future for local pricing for Argentina? I know it's silly but I really wanna buy from GoG and...yeah...I'm a bit lucked out on the currency front XD

Probably not,unfortunately GOG is gradually ending the service to emerging countries u.u

Today, at the near end of GOG Anniversary I decide to purchase some games. I add whishlisted games to "cart", see price of 24,58 $ click to pay, BUT then by mystery games changed their price more than twice. What the Hell? I replenished my wallet with the calculations that all the desired games cost me about 25 bucks, and than it turned out that they will cost almost twice.

You can always pay in USD. In my case i almost always compare RUB\USD price on gg to real exchange rate, sometimes its more cheap to pay RUB, sometimes USD. Usually GOG bump its exchange rate above "real one", but prior of bump local currency often more cheap.

I'm seeing increased prices across the store in the order of 100%. This seems to have happened overnight. Is this a glitch or is it accurate?

100% increased ? that would make 9.99$ -> 19.99 $ ?

100% increase is the same as a two-fold increase, meaning price + price or price times two
that would become rather expensive in euros

Anyway if things get to expensive i will be even more carefull in buying games
is this a global thing or only GOG related? if its only GOG and steam, gamersgate and others remain the same price then its buy at others.

thats 50 euro cents extra for a game we paid 7.49 eu for (+_+)
would a 14.99 EUR game increase with 50 cents or more ? that will cost lots of money (✖╭╮✖)
how much would a 24.99 eur game become ? 25.99? or more ? imagine a 79 eur game ✖ RIP‿✖

back to casualgames , i do hope Artifex is NOT asking 50 cents or more at Steam for the 14.99 eur game cause
no way i will pay more i cant afford that , (✖╭╮✖) im no millionair ,

lots of money for digital only games ? digital should get cheaper..... considering the huge savings on storage for the 10.000 's of cd and dvd, manuals, boxes, digital should get 50% off permanently ..... even with 75% off listprice still makes a very good profit ....

Yes, twice as much as it would cost before. It's strange though as that happened when I checked the store on my notebook. Prices are fine on my desktop. Could be an issue on my end.

maybe the region detection is broken/confused on your browser on your notebook.
South America gets a regional discount of ~30-50% usually. If your notebook sees the normal US prices that would explained the unexpected higher prices you see.
you can check a flat priced game (like Wizards & Warriors) and see if it has the same price on notebook & desktop.
