Maxvorstadt: I don`t understand why the euro does lose value compared to the dollar?!? The USA is nearly bankrupt, every two or three moths the US government raises the credit limit so they don`t have to say officially that they are bankrupt, but in fact they are!
Taken this into account it would be more realistic to say that 1 euro is worth 10 dollars, or even 15!
If I've well understood, it's because Europa, since some months, has an inflationist policy (but they don't want to exceed 2% of inflation) to fight against potential deflation (due to lack of growth). So they inject some euros (= print euros) in the economy, this induce inflation and so depreciate the exchange monetary rate. Taken this into account it would be more realistic to say that 1 euro is worth 10 dollars, or even 15!
But it doesn't mean that what you said isn't true ;)
The dollar is in theory a very week money, but the reality doesn't reflect this at all.
