Just noticed DotEmu have made and released an enhanced edition of Little Big Adventure. I guess this is in conjunction with the iOS and Andriod versions of the game.

"Enjoy this new PC edition including brand new features:
• New gameplay: adjustable throwing and jumping distance (visible trajectory), simplified sections, etc…
• Streamlined, easy-to-use interface with enhanced graphics specially redesign for this version
• Tutorials at the start of the game
• Dynamic ON/OFF hint system
• Zoom feature to provide an overview of the scenes
• Automatic save system, with return to the last checkpoint when you lose a life
• Full controller support"

I could not see anything on DotEmu's own store, which is a shame, but it looks like a nice little upgrade.
Thanks for the heads up. I might play it one day if I get an Android 6+ tablet and the app works well with premissions disabled.
I wonder if GOG will get this upgrade. Looks good, but I wouldn't want to buy this again.

DotEmu now producing Steam only wares, nice. As for this, the game was great, and easy to play even to modern day. This appears to be a "slap a widescreen mod on it and sell it for big bucks" approach, much in line with the "Enhanced" BG set. Shall we now also expect some DLC locked only to the new version?
Note, none of the points given actually seem to be of benefit?

Doubtful. It's not DotEmu that publishes the game here.

If they've been able to modernize the controls and the save system somewhat, that would be fine. I guess the gamepad support is worth something to many. The controls and the save system are... odd... in the original game.

The biggest issue with the original version though (for me at least) is the MIDI volume level when playing on modern Windows with General MIDI music, it took some fiddling to try to fix it so that the music wouldn't be so LOUD compared to the sound effects. (If you use the inferior Soundblaster music, you don't have this issue, but you have poorer music then.)

So I am wondering if this remake uses General MIDI (or Soundblaster) music too, or have they redone the audio engine for the game, e.g. that it plays the music digitally from mp3 files or whatever?

Anyway, not sure if those changes are enough reason to rebuy the game, similarly how I feel about the "new" Fallout versions that GOG got. Also, are they going to remake the sequel too?

I suppose their version of checkpoint saves might be an improvement on the original, which actually spawned a thread called 'LBA's unusual/confusing game save system: How it works.' I'd still rather have LBA2-style manual saving.

I wonder whether there's running-into-walls damage in this version.
I think I'd get this version if it popped on GOG.com, even if a small upgrade fee was asked for LBA 1 owners.
