pedrovay2003: Has anyone actually gotten Dungeon Defenders (Windows) working without Steam? I've tried the whole switch-to-GameSpy thing, and for the life of me, I can't get it working. I removed the game from the wiki, but it's been added back.
Hmm, I could never get Dungeon Defenders work, I just copied the information from the PCGamingWiki in the hope that it would be correct. Maybe we should simply remove it from our list? On another note, Monaco was deleted from our list with the reasoning that without Steam you can't use the whole game. I think adding it again with a disclaimer is the better option.

realkman666: I want to thank everyone who's still contributing, but now I consider that not having an installer is too much of a limitation on my ownership and that no game sold on Steam qualifies anymore.
It's cool that you still appreciate this thread though this "limitation" of yours. I for example don't like to install things on my system, so the Linux tarballs from GOG or Steam (without DRM) is pretty helpful in this aspect.

Yeah, I think Dungeon Defenders should just be removed. I've never had any luck with it.

I don't even understand the Monaco thing. By "whole game," do they mean multiplayer? Because that much is obvious, if Steam isn't running. It definitely runs without Steam, and you can absolutely complete the entire game.

I'll just quote what the editor wrote:

Removed Monaco due to DRM-restricted functionality. While the game can be launched without Steam, when it launches it tries to use Steam to verify the player's ownership of the game. If Steam isn't available then major parts of the game are locked.

Can't say if it's true or what he really means, but the first two levels in singleplayer work just fine for me.

Huh, that's weird. The developers have actually said that it only uses Steam for online play because of matchmaking, and nothing else.
I don't know if anybody posted this already but here it is: List of drm-free games on Steam Wiki: http://steam.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_DRM-free_games

Edit: Just ignore my post since by going through several pages of this thread I see this is the most posted link here :)

Hmm, it could also be misinformation or some sort of elaborate vandalism (on second thought: not likely), since that happened a few times now. At least, I would trust the devs' statement.

It's not surprising it's the most posted link here because the people here set up that list. And it's good to post that link once in a while since OP is dead.
Light (http://store.steampowered.com/app/271730) makes the list; you just have to delete the steam file in the folder
Does anybody know if Dark Fall: The Journal and Dark Fall: Lights Out on Steam have CEG DRM?
JazzPunk on a Linux and The Journey Down: Chapter 1 on Linux both appear to be DRM free.
Added Consortium Master Ed.
Anyone tried Heileen 3: New Horizons on Windows?

Moved it out of the steam folder and unplugged internet and it works without steam running (though haven't tried uninstalling steam first). You can even just delete the steam dlls and it will still run.

EDIT2: I tried Bastion on Windows for good measure and runs without steam too. Doesn't let you nuke the steam dlls though.

Thanks. :-)
Black Mirror 3 is client-free as well.

I only have Lost Souls on steam, but as I remember it works without the client (dont currently have it installed so cannot check I'm afraid!).

Edit: but according to this, yes: http://steam.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_DRM-free_games
