Can anyone try the Guild II?
https://www.humblebundle.com/store/p/theguild2_storefront

I don't know why Humble doesn't have the DRM-free one.
Muri and Card City Nights seem to run without steam. Starting Card City Nights, a box to enter your steam account info will pop up, but closing it doesn't stop the game from running.
Okay, not a game, but software, ArtRage has just confirmed to me that:
"We don't have DRM in ArtRage. One of the first editions that went up on Steam had DRM due to Steam requirements, but this was removed in later updates.

The only exception is the iPad and iPhone versions: like all apps, the iOS editions are tied to your App Store accounts."

So if you see a deal on steam for it and would like to pick it up - KABLAM!

I can also confirm (having used V.2.5 a lot) its actually a great package - need to upgrade though!
Added Card City Nights, Muri (thanks, Darko!), and Face Noir.

@Sachys, I think that might need a separate section. Too lazy to do that right now, lol, but I'll add that in if no one else does.

edit: on second thought, I think this type of stuff should have its own wiki and not be included on the video games wiki.

Kick-aha: ...or add a new page for listing software only, but I don't see more options. And as long as there are only a few software titles it would be over the top to create a new page.
Sounds like a plan, would be helpful to have such info. Unfortunately, I don't buy anything but games from Steam, so I won't be able to help expand the list.

If no one else adds the new page to the List, I'll do it sometime laterz.

It's the Steam wiki, so it should stay there. We can rename the page to make it more general or add a new page for listing software only, but I don't see more options. And as long as there are only a few software titles it would be over the top to create a new page.
Added Transistor. From the Supergiant website:

Will there be a stand-alone DRM-free version of Transistor for PC?
We have no plans for a stand-alone installer for Transistor at this time. The Steam version of the game includes various features that require Steam, such as cloud saves, achievements, and trading cards, and for launch we did not want to create a separate version lacking these features. Note we have put no DRM in Transistor unless you count Steam as a form of DRM. Once you’ve downloaded the game from Steam, you don’t need Steam to be running in order to play.

That really highlights why developers often focus on Steam, in addition to the obvious sales differential. There are features people expect in modern games that GOG does not provide and Steam does. And none of those features really require DRM, just optional abilities GOG would have to make a client to provide.

And then holy hell the gates of hell shall open.

Seriously, who the fuck needs this shit? They won't bother with a DRM-free version because fucking achievements are somehow more important than the game itself?

If the bolded is true, it really shouldn't be difficult for them to simply shove the files into a bare-bones installer (or, hell, a zip file) and let the steam DLL just hang around like an unwanted appendix, for submittal elsewhere.

If you can play the game without steam, or copy/paste it into other PCs (which may never have had Steam) to play, then the game is pretty clearly DRM-free. I don't see any reason to complain here.

The game is DRM free. They don't want to release it outside of Steam on day one because the other versions would be, in a way that might not matter to you but does to some, inferior.
high rated

Let me rephrase then: They won't bother with a version that does not force me to sign up for that other digital distributor and install their client on my machine.

I don‘t think releasing an "inferior“ product is even their concern. They‘re on Steam, they‘re playing with the big boys now, so fuck everyone else. That‘s the vibe I‘m getting here. It‘s bad enough that big publishers‘ releases are almost entirely Steam-only. It really, really sucks that indie devs are more and more going the same route.

When the vast majority go one way, others are usually dragged along. Sucks, but it's the way of the world. It was nice of them to opt out of the DRM option, at least, eh?
Bardbarian (windows) confirmed.

fronzelneekburm:
As far as I am concerned, downloading a game from GOG or Steam is pretty much the same.

edit: But oh yeah, you can download via browser from GOG.You can always uninstall Steam after downloading, so there's that.
