There's nothing like this, but I think it's a good idea. A lot of games are doubles.

EDIT: The game tries to run without Steam, but it seems to have issues with Windows in general right now; people are reporting crashes (the Mac version is fine). I got it to run in Windows 8.1 by keeping Steam at the login screen and then starting the game from the install folder, so I suppose it's sudo-DRM-free.

Unfortunately, such things do not exist. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=15 go suggest it there if you want. I doubt they'll implement the option for DRM-free games, Valve loves DRM, but who knows.


Anyway, seems a lot of the steamdrones are fatties since they got upset at a analogy involving fat people. Probably trying to be more like their god Gabe.

@SpaceChem: I opened the 'registration.key' file with a simple texteditor, at least under Linux. The only content was a serial number.

Haven't found anymore yet, but I question the usefulness of finding DRM-free games on Steam because what if a dev or pub decides to include it down the line? It would be their prerogative if they choose to do so.

I wonder why we do not convert this list into a publicly editable web spreadsheet like for the list of games released on GOG (created by JMich I think). Then we would probably easily add a column for describing if the game is also on GOG or not. Then one could easily sort for those also on GOG or for those not being on GOG. No need for a second list.

I think that would be great and if I have time before somebody else has I will convert the list and search for games on GOG. Maybe somebody else will be faster than me.

Haven't seen it mentioned yet, but I've been playing Anna on Linux, no Steam client running, and it seems to be running just fine -- at least, I haven't run into any particular problems so far.

Actually, it's arguably ethically incorrect. Purchasing anything on Steam is actively harming both yourself and all of those in your community by rewarding and encouraging further use of the DRM platform.
