Mega Man X: You nailed it - Galaxy displays Steam achievements on their own launcher better than their own achievements! You cannot make this up!
Exactly, I hope sooner or later this will reach the right ears and they will improve the whole management of achievements on GOG. Various adjustments would be needed, such as a counter for cumulative achievements, improvement of icons of course, and maybe points to achievements or something like animations or special effects for those who complete a game at 100%.

GoldenCavalier: Discord isn't my thing, and I've heard from others echoing your suggestion of it, but I probably won't ever find myself there I think. Very chaotic to say the least based on my limited experience in seeing my son's use of it. LOL As I said to Ice Mage, I just don't understand the mindset of a business that doesn't try to make their customers happy. Add on the challenges of the average person's disposable income over the last almost 3 years, as well as the simplicity of fixing this issue for a large percentage of the games on the list which are simply that the achievements exist on Steam but just not on GOG with the ease of the process in remedying that, and I don't get the thought process for these companies who need every sale they can get to survive. I'll keep trying and hope I can add at least one success story to your efforts here though.
Yeah, it's pretty inconceivable how certain developers won't lift a finger unless they get truckloads of money up front. If you have further contact with devs let us know how it goes, to help out or even just to know what they reply.

And speaking of that, I make an appeal to anyone following the thread.
We have already talked about it on our discord server, but we have a more unique than rare opportunity to vote for the addition of the Galaxy achievements to Bear and Breakfast. Just click the arrow at the following link and your vote will be counted. If we want to stay at least on the first page of suggestions, we should reach at least 50 votes. No registration is needed, thank you all!

Done! Hopefully the effort pays off!

For starters, they could just ensure the percentage milestones get added to user profiles. At the moment, it's a complete crapshoot. Support staff can't fix it manually either.

I am thinking about this more. I find it so odd that the achievement icons are allowed to look as bad as they do when you compare it to the game banners, backgrounds, and covers, which all look very high rez and as though much care has been taken in the selecting and sourcing of them, and then you get these nasty looking grainy smudges called achievements - I simply cannot reconcile them side-by-side. The further point here is that it probably does not take much to put this all right, especially when you see that Galaxy displays Steam achievements so well!

Alexim: Thank you for the report, it seems to be a case where the new version of the game broke the achievements, because I know many people who had unlocked them in the past.
avatar
MarkoH01: Exactly. I can now confirm that version 1.06 is still working (started replaying the game and got a lot of achievements unlocked already - unfortunately not all that should have been unlocked since some only unlock the moment you got the achievement).
About Bright Memory: Infinite: As previously reported on Discord, the newest update 1.2 fixes the problems. Everything is working fine again. Probably not retroactively though.
Brutal Orchestra claims to have achievements, but seemingly doesn't. It might be a case of invisible achievements, but more likely the product card information is wrong, since Brutal Orchestra - The Bundle of Earthly Delights doesn't list achievements.

They are visible in the popular achievements section, so "fortunately" it looks like yet another case of invisible achievements that can be easily fixed.

The achievements are now visible, and the information on both product cards has been corrected. The typo in the link for the bundle has also been fixed in the announcement thread. A rare instance of someone reading the replies.

MIddle Earth : Shadow of War appears to be missing achievements.
Shadow of Mordor has them but not Shadow of War.

It's already on the list.

I decided to create a wishlist for this issue. I don't know how successful it will be, but maybe it will make the problem more visible to Galaxy developers.

I voted hopefully the team can fix this. If you discord join the channel GOG cafe. There you can contact galaxy devs easily and let them know about this.

Thank you! I'm already in GOG café, but apart from the developers of the extra integrations I hardly ever see the official developers online, I'll see what can be done.
As some might know, Broken Sword 2 DC recently got achievements added on Steam. Since they did not arrive on GOG as well I decided to ask Revolution. I must admit that the reply they gave me today was quite unusual and interesting and I almost understand their decision in a certain kind of way ....

"Hi there Marko,

Thanks so much for taking the time to reach out to us!

You're right, currently there are no achievements available for Broken Sword 2 on GOG.

One of the reasons is that GOG Galaxy is quite new, and GOG is mostly known as a DRM free platform, which we love it for! However our Steam Achievements are heavily relying on them being tied to a digital platform.

On GOG it would only really work in context of GOG Galaxy. Were it ever severed from this service, or the service were to go down, the achievements wouldn't work anymore.

We think that a big part of why our community likes GOG would be for its independence, and inherently be at odds with how these achievements would work, and might even be frustrating to many.

In the future we might revisit this issue, and if we do we hope it's in a way that puts extra effort into how our community wants to play their games, and whether or not that's outside of GOG Galaxy.

We hope this makes sense, and lots of love from us at Revolution"

Thank you for the interesting post.

I honestly don't like this response from them at all, first because GOG Galaxy is not "quite new," it was launched in 2015 and it's now more than 7 years old.

Second, if the game doesn't have achievements it'll never attract the user base that appreciates them, so it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Also, they didn't make this argument for Beyond a Steel Sky, since it has achievements on GOG.

It seems more like all a cover up not to say that they didn't feel like implementing them on an old game that probably doesn't yield much on GOG anymore, while on Steam they always pick up something extra thanks to the number of users.

Anyway I felt like contacting them myself, let's see if more people can change their minds.
