I had made a topic about this game earlier but it fell victim to the mists of time but i remembered this game again as soon as i saw the Al-Qadim: The Genie's Curse release on gog as this was the other game i was trying finish at that time.

The game is pretty unique wont try to spoil much of it but it's a old school point-and-click adventure game where you have to crack a case for which your father has been accused of.

The game is pretty vast as in you have to manage your money carefully , you also have some rpg like stats which you can increase or decrease , a full city to explore as far as depth is concerned you can even trade in stocks in the game to make money/ play mini games on you in game computer.

There is also a deadline within which you must solve the case so its pretty intense, i never could complete the game as i always ran out of time or could not find all the evidence and then the disk went bad.

I am not sure if this is one of those games which is truly gone and lost and cant be brought back giving it another chance and i hope there are people who have played this game too.

That does sound fun! So many old gems I've never got to try. Too little time =/

looking around for about the game its mostly on abandonware sites , although the publisher was Impressions Games

they later became a developer and made Pharaoh , Zeus and Caesar III under Sierra Entertainment.

Since those games are already on gog not sure how hard it would be to get this one here.

Actually I find it as a little phenomena that they may be like 300 people all around the world who still remember about this game and... like 30 people who claims it was brilliant. One of them is me, another one - you, obviously ;-)

However, chances for the GOG version or mobile remake are unfortunately low - game is basically anonymous, got extremaly critical reviews* in its days. Couldn't agree more with the vision of GOG version with a dedicated board full of comments about the plot and Paul Wilkinson, but damn, it's basically impossible. ;(

*It was much underrated, too demanding I guess. "#2 Worst Game in 1992" is a sad misunderstanding.

Bumping this for 2022 , i wonder if there are any more fans of this game who have played it. I was running it in dosbox the other day on my psvita still a wonderful game deserving a release here.

I have very fond memories of playing this game back in the day. It was part of a batch of games that we got at Sam's Club in the late 90s, and I didn't necessarily have access to many other games at the time, so even though it was pretty primitive by the standards of the time, I found a lot to enjoy. The setting in England seemed rather novel to me, and there was a surprising amount of depth to it. Lots of optional scenes, as well. The timer really made it difficult to finish the game, and I never did as a child, but I was able to play it again as an adult, and it held up pretty well. I'm surprised that reviews for it were so scathing. It's definitely not a masterpiece. I guess it must seem pretty amateur compared to games like those from Lucas Arts or even Sierra in terms of the art or writing, but the RPG elements and open-ended aspect of it were really ambitious and helped it to stand out in my mind. I would definitely like to see it get more notice.

And you see, in those days such a game someone called "primitive", today it would be said that it is "a fantastic noir novella with an overwhelming weight on the shoulders of the main character, which directly pours out of the monitor."

I would give a lot for some detective story maintained exactly in that style of narrative.
