On Steam DOW2 has a native linux version, too.

Will it also be released on GOG?
No because Feral.

AlpakaDream: what is Feral?
Publisher responsible for the Linux version of the game. Afaik they don't have any releases on GOG, presumably due to DRM-free and not wanting to bother with GOG's small market share.

Company making ports of AAA games for Mac and Linux. For some reason they're blatantly anti DRM-free.
If it's any consolation, people are getting far greater performance running the Windows version via Wine, to the extent that all the comments on protondb are to do just that.

That's true for majority of Feral's ports. In fact they stopped porting to Linux some time ago, because even they admitted Proton/Wine gives better results.

I also tried DOW2 with Wine, but the native Linux version (on Steam) runs way better (at least for me)
You can vote here: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/bring_feral_interactive_and_aspyr_to_gog if you think it'll help.
It's not just DOW2 that's missing linux version.
Unless Linux was a target platform, I would prefer to run the Windows version with WINE.

I think it might be better for the preservation of older games too because when the game expects to link with a system library and then your OS updates/deprecates that library the game will stop working.

you usually can get it to work by downloading those libraries.

And who wants to hunt out old deprecated libraries to make their games work?

Both Unix based... ok.

...anti drm-free... unix based systems... foss mentality... wha..?

...There is something really wrong with those sentences put together in an unique phrase.

Just think of them as Apple. Apple has taken something equally baffling and completely bastardized it. ARM, BSD, POSIX, CUPS...
Feral interactive do have a online shop with direct download option, maybe they see GOG as a competitior?

And of course, all the Codemasters (Dirt Rally and Grid franchising) games ported by Feral to Linux and MacOS were pulled from the store since the EA acquisition.
