Haha, nice one. Oh wait, I haven't noticed it was created by Judas himself :o.

shmerl: So it wasn't really logical for GOG to start with Mac OSX first.
Actually, it was. All other distributors started supporting Mac OSX first. The system is delivered with small range of HW specifically built for it. If they are about to release a new game, they can test it on 100% of devices it is meant to be played. As opposed to Linux that shares same testing challenges with MS Windows - a lot of possible variables.

Because of silly stereotypes, not because it has significantly more gamers. Some should think out of the box, but I guess not everyone has courage.

No, because it's easier to support than Linux, even if you focus on just one distro it's still easier to support OS X than it is Linux.

shmerl: But I expect that there are more Linux gamers than Mac OSX gamers, especially amongst GOG users. So it wasn't really logical for GOG to start with Mac OSX first.
That may very well be perception bias.
May be, may be not. So far I didn't see any solid numbers which indicate that Mac OSX has more gamers than Linux over all. And in case of GOG, there are clearly more users who requested Linux support, than those who requested Mac OSX. Whatever it indicates.
The guy running this campaign and that generous contributor he speaks of are pretty damn cool in my opinion! Read to the end and you'll see why.

Very interesting development...
From the thread there:
I've spoken in person at length about this with them. I can say no more!
I'm not sure if the poster there meant GOG or not?

Considering the post he is responding to, that seems to very much be the case. You can ask yourself if you are still unclear, however. What I find even more intriguing is that this developer says that developing for Linux is easier than developing for Mac OS and continues to explain why that is.

I'm not surprised that developing for Linux can be easier, but it really depends on the case. I'm really more interested in what he said about "I can say no more". Looks like something is brewing in GOG.

It could very well be common business practice: Don't bitch about those you do business with.
Here's a short piece on the subject by Gaming On Linux.
Future_Suture: Good exposure, looks like it attracted quite a number of votes here.

Could mean "Linux support coming to GOG soon(tm)" or "I've spoken to them at length about supporting Linux but they just won't listen"... hopefully the former but I'm going to assume the latter until I see strong evidence suggesting otherwise.

More & more games are getting Linux releases and we're even seeing larger developers/publishers showing an interest in Linux... it's a shame that GOG are still holding out, especially considering their anti-DRM stance (and yet they will only support DRM'ed platforms). It's also very disappointing buying a game on GOG to then later discover that it will be getting a native Linux release... it makes me regret buying from GOG when that happens :/
"Uplink" is available with Linux version on Humble Bundle weekly sale (GOG has it, but obviously only Windows and Mac OS X versions).
Well, at the very least, things are no less promising than before! I'm hopeful, at least.
