IT2013: I played the demo of the first episode without having any idea of what to expect, and I loved it! I hope Square Enix publishes more games like this in the future.
I hope that more games like that will appear, too, but I'd prefer them to be made by publishers who'll release them on GOG :).

I don't mind Steam, I'll buy there if GOG doesn't get it (which seems likely), but I still prefer to buy here.

Saw a Let's Play and knew I had to stop watching and play it myself. Had just voted for it on the wishlist a couple of days before this topic came up.
Would be great to see "Life is Strange" on GOG.

As far as I know, Square Enix has a western division and they are working with all those titles (Tomb Rider, Deus Ex, etc), so... why not? :)

BUT! I don't think it's enough to just sit here and vote on the Community Wishlist section. In my opinion we need to write to them, tweet to them (DONTNOD, Square and GOG) to attract their attention. I've already sent my tweet :)

This game is PERFECT for GOG. Artsy, deep, relaxing, colourful. Love cinematography, by the way, would give an Academy Award just like *that*.

+1 ... I really want to play this game, but I don't want to have it with DRM. At least we have already some great graphic adventures in GOG like "The Wolf Among Us". I home Square Enix release this game ASAP in here...

Mr.Caine: it looks to be tailor made for tumblr
I second this sentiment, especially since one of my friends who *really* loves the game is an admittedly tumblr hipster millenial.

The game might be amazingly good, but I'm really prejudiced towards it already. I watched some guy doing a Let's Play of Ep. 1 on YouTube and it honestly didn't click with me; seemed kind of a Japanese Visual Novel with more interaction à lá Telltale Games. I quickly got bored and went back to my usual serial killer documentaries.
Looks interesting, and also suspiciously like a telltale adventure game, which I loath with a passion.

Indifferent vote here. Might be worth checking out if it came here.
Wow, just watched a trailer thanks to this thread and it brought tears to my eyes and hands to my mouth for no good reason. The 80s sounding soundtrack and "feel" of it reminded me of Donnie Darko, complete with all that evocative goodness and strangely enough even BEFORE there was any mention in the video of time travel. When that nod popped up, and the vortex at the end reared its head I actually found it strange that the little captions popping up in the video I watched were mentioning Gone Home and Heavy Rain. Because the thing just screams Donnie Darko.

Anyway, what a beautiful little setpiece trailer that was. I hope the game lives up to it.

*edit to add two things 1) What's tumblr? and 2) oooooh I've seen a couple mentions of Telltale adventures here. I've never really played one (I tried a demo or two here and there) but they never really struck me as "good games" - I know they are extremely well regarded but they just aren't really what I look for in a game. I hope this one isn't quite like that...

rtcvb32: Alright watched the preview and i can only say 'huh? Butterfly Effect?'. Sounds like an interesting concept but feels like (with it's episodic nature) it's going to be a point & click, although i hope it's more like Blades of Time... But the story is probably going to be super linear.
Yes, you got that part right. They ripped it off shamelessly. At one point, Maxine actually looks into photo and goes back in time to that particular incident.(exactly what happens in Butterfly Effect 2) Plus there's a whiny clingy character called Chloe which is basically forced on you and no matter what choices you can't be rid of her. Rewind mechanic is alright though.
Also see the image attached, that comes out of nowhere. Max does literally nothing in game to warrant being called Feminazi, it's almost as if devs are implying that being called a feminazi means you're doing something right.

So it's basically a point&click adventure because you still end up with a very very linear path, actually very closely to what telltale does with some branching points, as for if any of them have any lasting or big impacts it to be seen... Hmmm...

If her moving through time is such a key mechanic, don't you think she'd have a wallet full of photos and do a bit like Jumpers (the scene early on where it shows off a living room with 300 photos of locations to jump to other places), except key points in time to fix things?

Then again this is starting to sound just a little like The girl who leapt through time, only not as cool...

it's trendy to hate on tumblr because feminazis and annoying teens love using it. as for telltale games, my toaster is too weak to run them so i wouldn't know or care.

She discovered this power at the end of episode 3, episode 4 should be out this week or next so we will have to see if she does that. Branching is a bit disappointing too. Example, you save/fail to save a classmate from jumping from roof of building. You happen to overuse the rewind thing to get all things to standstill so that you can get to the top of the building and are unable to use the rewind feature in that situation. In my first playthrough I couldn't and it was rational for her to be disappointed that she couldn't save her friend despite having the power. But when I went back and saved her, she still is bummed in episode 3 that her friend almost died. All lines with friend died were just swapped to almost died. And the character was taken out of the story either by death or on excuse of treatment, so it made no difference at all.

Your words not mine, I was just pointing out some weird things in game.
