Great to see more Witcher is coming, I would love to see if they made it more like Mortal Kombat Movie, it has that videogame-vibe.

How do you mean? You want him to push buttons and move a stick before he does anything?
Drama.

Tokyo_Bunny_8990: Im in the camp that Cavill carried the show. He is a huge asset in drawing eyes to the show, being a Hollywood actor and the biggest name on the show by far. He is also a good actor and has passion for the IP which does help.
It is my impression as well. I thought the first season was good. The second season looked good in theory, but in practice, I had a hard time believing their depiction of Geralt as a father figure so it was so so for me, but I still enjoyed watching Cavill's mug as the Witcher anyways so I intended to keep watching until the show jumped the shark.

I'll withhold judgment until I've seen the transition with Liam, but I'd be lying if I said that my enthusiasm didn't take a dip at seeing a beloved depiction of the character being phased out this early (unless the show was cancelled, I thought we'd get a solid 5 seasons of Cavill in the role at least).

Tokyo_Bunny_8990: Cavill has also repeatedly stated in the past that he would stick to the witcher for the fully planned 7 seasons "as long as they remain faithful" to the books.
Basically this. I think he jumped because it was senseless to stay as the main attraction in a passion project (for him) when the showrunners show very little respect to the original material. Cavill was the only good thing in the show, and now he's gone. If I even manage to keep watching the entire third season given all the stupid decisions they've made so far, I can't imagine going into season 4 as well. There are other good shows out there, that don't shit on the source material (if there is one). Outlander and The Expanse comes to mind.

It's a darn shame it came to this, because I really, really hoped it would be a good show. Instead they gave it the "second half of GoT" treatment already in season 2. Hard to survive that.
Cavill is the only good thing in the show, he litteraly keep the show alive, without him it will die slowly as they have planed a lot of seasons. It's not the perfect Geralt but it's more because of the bad writing than him.

What do you mean? I thought people were pretty happy with the Expanse series. Personally I don't remember hearing any complaints about it being different from the books. Having said that... I haven't seen the last 2 seasons, so I don't know if they pulled a Game of Thrones ending.

Theres zones, characters, story, even effects. I think its very video-gamish. Combat moves were game stuff too. I think all essentials are there to make Video Game Movie.

What I meant with that is that there are other shows that are much more faithful and respectful to the source material thant the Witcher show, such as The Expanse or Outlander. I meant those as good examples ;)

I've seen the last two seasons and can attest that The Expanse is awesome, from beginning to end.

A Game of Throne ending, it is not.

To be fair to Game of Thrones though, they ran out of book material to adapt. Its not like they chose to wildly diverge at the end, they had nothing to go on (some outlines that GRRM gave them, that's it). The showrunners get a lot of flak (and some of it is deserved, they did bail out on the series early... they could have gone on a couple more seasons to wrap things up), but I think it was unfair to expect them to be of the same caliber as GRRM. How many writers can make that claim?

Yes, what you meant to say was perfectly obvious, but I still managed to miss the point. :(
Henry took the job because he loved both the books and the games so much - he was dead set on bringing Geralt to life according to how he was depicted in both those mediums thus far. Honestly, he nailed it even with such low-quality writing. He was fun to watch and believable, 100% the only reason for anyone to soldier through season 2 (though the first one was a dud as well...)

Him leaving while securing a backup option is yet another proof of his devotion to this world and characters. Now that the cat is out of the bag regarding Netflix's overall treatment of this IP, it's clear that Cavill had to swallow his pride so many times during the filming of the first three seasons, so it's safe to assume that he's had enough.

I got no interest in watching the show without him, but for those who enjoy the series for one reason or another, I hope that Liam will be at least 1/3 as devoted to the show as Henry was.

It turned to shit long before they ran out of source material though. And as is usual in these types of shows, when the showrunners go their own way and think they can do better than the others, they inevitably shit the bed. That is what happened to GoT too. It was good up to season 4, maybe 5 at a push, and then it went the way of... many leading characters. Headless and quite dead.
Is Henry coming back now? :)

Instead, he will be part of a Warhammer 40K cinematic universe.
