Vainamoinen: I've never seen a transsexual character being less "forced" into a game than in Technobabylon, but I do agree with morolf in that this is a case worth mentioning, though I think it should come with some kind of spoiler tag.

Lao tells this simple fact about her past life to ease tension that was mounting after her partner accidentally revealed something very personal about himself. She still reveals it matter-of-factly, in just about two lines of dialog, and it's never mentioned again. It becomes just a bullet point in her past life, and no one, in particular not the player, would ever question her femininity, although she's never ever sexualized.
It's forced because it's totally irrelevant to the game's plot (granted, I might have been more annoyed if it actually had been a major plot point). I got a distinct impression that the developers included it because they wanted to make a point in US culture wars ("Look how superprogressive we are, not like those rednecks in Texas, we've even got a transsexual character"), and I don't care for that at all in games I play. But it's admittedly a very minor element of the game, and there are other elements of the game that are a lot more disturbing (e.g. the restaurant with human meat, though in a way I guess that was commentary on the end point of unregulated capitalism).
But anyway, it's a good game and I don't want to start a discussion about transsexuality...just thought I should mention it since it's clearly relevant for the topic here.

Thanks, I could not have made the double standard clearer than that. It's forced if it's just a detail, it's more forced if the story dwells on it... can't wait for someone to explain to me what the "right way" to have transsexual characters in games is starting from this outlook.

Sci-fi has the ability if not the obligation to imagine what our future looks like, and especially what happens when the things that are outrageous today become virtually normal. That in itself is not a political statement.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER
Dreamfall Chapters does the very same thing. Main character reveals he's gay only in episode 3 of 5 because he's not interested in a relationship anyway. He literally only reveals it when people around him assume he's into women just a little too ennervingly. Kian's homosexuality becomes somewhat relevant to the plot (because homosexuality is vilified in the country he's liberating from the oppressors from his deeply fascist home country, where homosexuality is normal (!)), but it still remains a mere detail. He never initiates or consummates a relationship in the game.

Which brings us to the topic of queer baiting. :) :) :)

Man, you're annoying, I can't recall ever having encountered someone as fanatically self-righteous as yourself on the net and I've encountered a lot of strange people. I merely wanted to add a detail about that game for the OP's list and how it affected my view of the game. I'm not interested in having a long discussion and certainly not with you. Bye, have a nice day!

And yet you couldn't abstain from immediately editorializing and from uncalled for personal attacks. Thanks for the detail though!

Added. I think the GOG forum must be the only gaming forum in existence that doesn't have actual spoiler tags. *sigh*

How about a simulation game based upon the Middle East and North Africa when it comes to LGBT stuff? My suggestion would be a game in which the player takes an alleged homosexual who is tied up to a chair and then tosses that suspect or convict (like it matters in an Islamist "civilization") off of a roof in a way in which the alleged homosexual hits a certain target. The closer to that target, the more points rewarded. It would be kind of like shuffleboard.

I say this since it would be wonderful to examine which side the "tolerant liberal types" take and to analyze their reason. I am willing to bet that they will side with the Islamists since they did so when that night club in Orlando got shot up and they claimed that Hillary Clinton was such a pro-woman and pro-gay humanitarian even though she excepted backdoor contributions from such Islamist regimes.

infinite9: However, there were other aspects to TRUMP’s engagement with the Russian authorities. One which had borne fruit for them was to exploit TRUMP’s personal obsessions and sexual perversion in order to obtain suitable ‘kompromat’ (compromising material) on him. According to Source D, where s/he had been present, TRUMP’s (perverted) conduct in Moscow included hiring the presidential suite of the Ritz Carlton Hotel, where he knew President and Mrs OBAMA (whom he hated) had stayed on one of their official trips to Russia, and defiling the bed where they had slept by employing a number of prostitutes to perform a ‘golden showers’ (urination) show in front of him. The hotel was known to be under FSB control with microphones and concealed cameras in all the main rooms to record anything they wanted to.
Another example: Wizardry 8, with the official patch (the GOG version already includes this patch). (Spoilers ahead)

In Wizardry 8, there is one part where, in order to continue with the game, you need to have a male character consort with a female demon. This character has to be a regular party member, not an RPG. Of course, this game lets you create your own party, and it is possible for the player to create an all-female party. This, of course, creates a problem.

In the patch, the developers added a solution; if your entire party (including RPCs) is female, the game will allow you to have a female character consort with the demon, creating a lesbian relationship (and the demon still somehow manages to become pregnant as a result). (There is still an issue: If you have a male RPC, you will have to dismiss him temporarily to get past this part; you can re-recruit him later without any issues.)

I am still wondering why this didn't get caught in testing; I guess nobody thought to test with an all-female party. One can't blame an all-male team for this issue, because the team was certainly not all-male (note Linda Currie as producer and Brenda Romero as game designer), so I am wondering how this happened.
Back to on-topic.

GOG just released Ignition. It has a fruity yellow car called "Banana". I bet it is a big banana.

First you go off topic, second, you provide fake news.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-38579126

Third, the cia document has 3, not 1, holes/inconsistencies and they do not present DETAILS, FACTS, PROOF in one word, whatsoever.

You learn of something new, but you must keep being updated. There is always turn of events, updates, differences, twisting of truth, hiding of facts or anything else possible (and impossible), asspulls included.

Oh, but i forgot, only you can be right; all saying differently are all wrong (or spies/hackers/agents)!

That's a school bus timppu. XD
There are probably quite a few obscure games out there with that kind of stuff in them. I played a weird RPG-ish game called Alcarys Complex that was in a Groupees bundle way back, and two of the main characters are gay in that one. Felt kind of clumsy the way it was handled, but I imagine trying to present heterosexuality in a largely gay-exclusive world would probably be a bit clumsy, too.

Spoiler spoiler spoiler etcetera

Can I just say that was a terrible example of including it in a game, though? You're given the opportunity to have him kiss a female NPC before you find out that he's gay, and that's pretty messed up. That and his characterization in the original Dreamfall almost make it seem like a last-minute decision.

End of spoiler spoiler etcetera
